Maybe cuz 2EZ4U was taken.... [More:]I'm not a fan of vanity plates, mostly because I'm paranoid and I don't want to make it easy for any would-be stalker to find me.

On my drive home today, there was an SUV with the plate '2YZ4U' which took me a few seconds to figure out and yesterday, on my epic drive into work, there was a Civic ahead of me with the plate 'SQL DBA.' (why?!?)

What vanity plates have you come across in your travels?
Wouldn't "YY 4U" have been cleverer?

CA vanity plates confuse me, because we have hearts and stars (and maybe hands?) allowed as characters. I'm still working on the "[heart]2BNSTG" car that parks in this neighborhood a lot.

Love to be nasty [something] perhaps?

I'm saving up for this one:

A few weeks ago we saw THE BOSS and BON JOVI at the same stop light.

I've been wondering if I could get STFU N00B - but it's really too geeky even for me.

occhiblu, my guess for the first part of "[heart]2BNSTG" is "love to be in x"...not sure what STG could stand for.

a_h & mgl: those are good ones!

Love To Be On Stage

What was that game show in the late 80's or early 90's that was all about figuring those things out? I rocked the hell out of that show.

BUMPER STUMPERS!

I used to have DEBUGR on my truck.

Yeah! Bumper Stumpers! If I hadn't been somewhere between the ages of 8 and 12, I would've been the Ken Jennings of that show.

I misread that as DEBURG and thought plinth was a really big fan of "Lady in Red."

On topic: Mark Cuban has MFFL on the back of his Lexus (Mavs Fan For Life) -- I trailed him on NW Highway a few months back.

Jerry Stackhouse has "42 Ways" on the back of his 80-something Bentley, in North Carolina tags. I ran into it outside of Josh Howard's old* townhouse.

Also, I'm not sure why, but Missouri seems to be the capital of the vanity plate. Every time I've been there, it seems like 20-25% of the people have v-plates. I guess they're relatively cheap up there.

*I assume he moved since he got his new contract. I used to have a client right down the street from him and saw Mavericks' cars out there all the time.

Thank you for proving my point, ufez. :)

My friend once joked that I should get RTLTHRP but he overestimates my shopaholic tendencies.

Is it the "show me" state?

Thank you for proving my point, ufez. :)

Heh. I only knew this because I'm a total Mavs fanboy (suck it, McGrady!) and I sat behind Cuban at a stoplight and saw him chatting on his phone in the side-mirror of his car. I thought about rear-ending him just to meet him, but I figured he could buy and sell my ass some 274,837 times over, and a PD wouldn't stand a chance against his legal team.

However, unless you don the ever-noble dark blue/light blue/grey, you don't have to worry about me stalking you. Much.

My favorite ever was one I saw probably 10 years ago. It said PLAN AHE.

MYSTERY SOLVED! Thanks, ufez!

In NH it's only like $10 extra, so there are tons of them there, too.

I saw PWNED the other day. I wonder how up-to-date they are on slang acronyms, like could you get STFU or MILF past them? If it would fit, I'd get PREPWNED for my used car.

Also, have you seen the great ESPN promo with the guy holding up the line at the Nebraska DMV trying every conceivable variation on "Nebraska" or "Cornhuskers" only to be told that they are all taken by a clerk who has clearly done this before?

Sweet, ufez, I've been trying to figure that out for months.
