Link to a really cool photo (not mine) [More:]

I really like that photo, it seems very 'summery' to me (plus I'm a sucker for bike racers, and black-and-white photography in general).

It feels very nearly that warm here in Boulder today. The near seventy degree swing in temperatures, however, is probably why I've been fighting a sinus infection for the past few days.

Wolfdog, in response to your fixed gear comment in last week's photo Friday thread, I can only plead guilty as charged. Nice Java geek (I think) reference, too BTW.

I mean the vast majority of us fixte wackjobs are riding around on bikes worth less than your shirt, so we have the burning need to feel superior about SOMETHING...
He he, I clicked the link and knew this was your post before ever reading your name. :)

yeah youngergirl, but you have to admit, that IS a rather nice set of 'pins', eh?

Nice, nice pic. Not exactly summery, but you've got to admit that 'cross gives some dramatic pics, too. It can be hard to capture the steepness of a climb in a photo. I've taken pics out on the road of fierce climbs that I wanted to document on film so I could show people later, only to find that the picture shows something about as intimidating as gentle path winding up a small, grass-and-daisy-covered hillock.

I'm glad you took that comment the way I meant. Nothing mean-spirited was intended. Every breed of cyclist has quirks and stereotypes, and if the worst you can say about the fixie branch of the family is that they're vocal about what they love - well.

One trick to taking steep climb pictures is to keep the camera level. Tilting it up (as in hellbient's picture) creates a forced perspective that makes the top of the hill appear to be farther away and there for a gentler slope.
