OMG! ~~orange~~ →[More:]
I'm not really a connoisseur of fruit, I mostly just buy whatever's cheapest. I'll try something unusual though if the item isn't outrageously priced. Made a quick run out to the supermarket last night for this week's lunches and grabbed some oranges for $2/kg.

Is that a blood orange? It looks pink, like a grapefruit.

The colour is a very purple, almost the same shade as a Crown Royal bag (does CR still come in bags?) or freshly cut purpleheart. Still tastes like orange though a touch more acidic. The texture is less crisp, kind of smooth like peanut butter that has been spread on warm toast.

Oh my dad had one of those the other day. I got freaked out when he peeled it. Said it tasted pretty good, though.

When my parents lived in California they had a Moro orange tree in the front yard. And, yes the Moro orange is the blood orange. They were yummy though a bit more difficult to peel. Good for juicing, that's for sure. Red orange juice. mmmmmm

Crown Royal certainly still comes in the purple bags. I have about 20 of them. :)

I bought a Crown Royal in a purple bag and all it contained were a dozen blood oranges. Purple.
