Diet Coke! It's the Breakfast of Champions!

I'm eating Valentine's Day cinnamon hearts right now. I'm not sure if it's breakfast, exactly, but I seem to be addicted to them.

coffee, cream, no sugar. coffee, cream, no sugar. And french toast. I love eggs.

Ha! I was going to post Unhappy Meals here, but someone already did over on Mefi. Check it out. It is a long article, and I have not gone through all of it yet, but it is worth it. It always strikes me as odd that people jump on any crazy diet fad but they are all so um... "skeptical" about say, global warming. /end derail
posted by carmina 28 January | 10:59
Yeah, reading that right now. Kinda sad how even something as basic as food is co-opted by lobbies and special interests.

That said, people believe in things not for good scientific or rational reasons, but because said beliefs are the most convenient for them.

Fad diet = lose weight and get fit without much sacrifice
Global warming = sell off the SUV and start biking around

Salad and lasagna
How funny, I am reading Unhappy Meals in another window right now. Love Pollan. Let common sense reign!

Breakfast was scrambled eggs with parmesan cheese and red pepper, cooked well, and lemon-ginger biscotti dipped in white chocolate, and coffee. Mmmm.

I haven't eaten breakfast; I'm about to skip to lunch and have some of the broccoli casserole I made on Friday.

Everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Unfortunately, it's from Einstein' as the bagel selection here is weak.

Heh, it's 12.20 and we are just about to head out to eat after a very late night celebrating a friend's birthday. (also, we always eat breakfast out in the weekends).

I think I will have some sort of banana-chocolate chip pancake concoction.

I ate my standard breakfast, which I have basically every day:
1 fried egg
1 slice of toasted pioneer bread
1 small glass of OJ
1 large mug of coffee with half and half
fruit (today was applesauce)

You might think I'm in a rut, but I'm actually happy to be in a routine of eating breakfast every day. For years it was diet coke and a cigarette, or doritos and coffee, or gummy worms and a power bar, or leftover tacos or other random dinner foods.

Greg Nog - no! No mentioning Valentine's Day. It's the worst day of the year and I'm not finished mentally preparing myself for it yet.

Er, in answer to the question: Weetabix, an apple, a pear, half a carrot and a cup of coffee.

We eat out every Sunday. Today I had 2 poached eggs on brown toast, sith crispy bacon and home fries. Also, many cups of not-so-great coffee, black, and a large grapefruit juice.

It was great.

Onion, mushroom, black olive & cream cheese omlet, whole wheat toast w/ butter & orange marmalade, sectioned grapefruit, coffee w/cream and sugar.

The mister is making scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast and I'll be downing it with orange juice.

My favorite thing about breakfast is having OJ and coffee. I am of the opinion that those two beverages are total opposites, and that's why it's so awesome to have both at the same time.

I was up very late, but breakfast was a pub all-day breakfast and two pints of bitter.

Delicious nonfat yogurt smoothie with tropical fruits mixed in, and a handfull of rice chex. Mmm.

More like, when did I last have breakfast.
posted by Eideteker 28 January | 14:20
TheDonF, my hatred for Valentine's Day knows no bounds, but it is negated somewhat by my recent infatuation with cinnamon-flavored candies. For lunch, I just had a box of Hot Tamales. This can't be healthy.

Toasted multi-grain bagel from Johnnie's with blue cheese, liberal amounts of Tabasco, and a handful capers from Trader Joe's. Not too bad, but not too great either.

Homemade "buttermilk" pancakes with butter and maple syrup. (I didn't have real buttermilk, so I substituted milk+1T lemon juice.)

Two mugs of Irish breakfast tea with sugar and half-and-half.

Mmmm.

a grilled chicken breast on multigrain bread with some munster cheese. not too shabby.

Shredded wheat (organic!) with some sort of unspecified "natural autumn flavorings" (which I assume to be cinnamon and vanilla, maybe?) and fresh blueberries in plain yogurt, with ground flaxseed mixed in. Coffee, with only whole milk and 1 tsp. of sugar (trying to work my way down from heavy cream and 2 or 3 tsp of sugar! I can do it!).

I'm developing an immense fondness for shredded wheat, which I don't think I'd had in years and now look forward to every morning. It's so satisfyingly crunchy.

I am eating the rest of my breakfast now, because it was too huge to finish at breakfast time: A burrito with seitan, onions, carrots, potatoes, avocado, and some other yummy stuff served with taboule and greens. Delish!

Potato pancake-like thing with melted mozzarella on it. With two fried eggs on top and chicken sausage (ate it about 2 hours ago).

I just woke up. I am hung over. Nothing in the fridge looks good. (Eggs? No. Green beans in black bean sauce? No. Potato? No.)

I really should go into work today (and go grocery shopping!) and I guess on my way I'll get a slice of pizza...

One of those liquid breakfast thingies, because I am now back at work after two weeks off :-( The upside is, I now have access to the Intarweb again, so I won't miss you all any more :-).

A cup of coffee, and a cheese omelette, although I was craving for this... maybe tomorrow.
