26 January 2007

The Pogues are touring So the Pogues (with Shane MacGowan!!)are going to be in Chicago March 5 and 6. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning, but I'm afraid they're going to sell out. [More:]I found out that if you register on the Pogues website, you can buy advance tickets through the site, which is good, right? Yes and no. I almost bought some last night but then noticed that it's not a secure checkout, and there's no way in hell I'm giving them my credit card info.

If I don't get tickets tomorrow, I'll be very sad. *sob*
Damn. .nowhere NEAR the PNW or anywhere on the West Coast.

They were here in L.A. a few months ago, I think -- I didn't get my act in gear in time to see them. Good luck on getting tickets, smich! I saw them a million years ago (shortly before Shane "went missing" for awhile) and they were amazing.

Speaking of the Enduring Tragedy That Is Shane MacGowan, has anyone else seen the documentary about him? It is pretty amazing that, for all his horrific problems with the drink, he still manages to write such beautiful songs.

Oooh, I need to check out that documentary. In case you didn't see it, last month he had a little piece in the Guardian about Kirsty MacColl.

The last time I saw the Pogues was in '92 or '93 in St. Louis. It was an amazing show.

danf, they were here (San Francisco) in October, for lots of money per ticket, which is why I didn't go.

Saw 'em last year, too. Totally worth the cost of tickets.

Shane, Have you bought tix already? I thought they weren't on sale til tomorrow. If they're available now, I'm on it.

Damn it! I'll just barely be out of the hospital when they come to Philly. That sucks a lot.

thanks for the Guardian link, smich. To this day, I can't hear "Fairytale of New York" without tearing up.

smich, the Pogues' website says "General availability of tickets through the usual outlets will begin on Jan 20."
posted by me3dia 26 January | 16:11
Huh, it does say the 20th, but the Ticketmaster site says the 27th, which is why I was confused. I now have tickets, so hooray!

Got the tickets thru the Pogues site. I called and the ticket place (Artist Arena) confirmed that they do not charge anything additional except the $2.50 deliv fee.

I checked a couple places on the web to buy tix online and prices were literally DOUBLE what they are if you go thru the Pogues site (as smich suggested.)
