Paypal frustration- help! [More:]Part 1: Somebody got into my paypal account and helped themselves to a bunch of stuff. They also changed my password and security questions and added a new email to the account.

Part 2: Paypal freezes account, removes dickhead's email and other info, refunds my money (yay!)

Part 3: I can't get into my Paypal account to send my money back to my checking account.

Emails Paypal sends never appear. They read the address to me- it seems right. Their survey service (a third party) got an email to me.

I added their domain to my contact list. It isn't showing up in my spam folder. No matter what PC I check my email on, I still don't get the "I forgot my password" email. Paypal is not on my blocked sender's list.

What else can I do? Any ideas? I'm at my wits' end- and I need the cash they're holding hostage.

Ouch, that totally sucks. I'm sorry :-(

It sounds like you may have already done it, but when I had a huge paypal problem (they suspended my account because I transfered money out of it rather than using my atm card) a phone call to them solved it.

I have no help (but much sympathy!), but I wanted to say that I keep reading this as "Papal frustration - help!" and it's amusing me entirely too much.

Would it be possible to create a disposable account, say "smtemp@gmail.com" and see if they can send the email to that account? Or does it have to be the original email account, for fraud reasons?

Yes, I'll call them again tomorrow- I have called them twice and both times I've gotten very nice not very helpful people.

muddgirl- yup, they'll only send it to the original one, for security reasons.

occhiblu, my initial response was going to be, "Kiss the ring."

what email? Is it a web-based mail or an ISP mail? It could be that your email provider is trashing their emails as spam before they ever even get to your inbox. They might be being deleted from the server.

I think I found it- paypal was placed in my "blocked sender's" list. That means my email was compromised, too. Jeez. You know it's so embarrassing to be such a chump. I'll have to re-do passwords and account numbers for anything I do online. Which is everything.

So, taz- you're sort of right, only it's an inside job.

Damn. I'd hoped we could blame Benedict. He seems the shifty sort.

Sorry to hear about your troubles small_ruminant. Stuff like that is why I shy away from credit and do all on-line stuff with money orders whenever possible. I hope everything works out for you.

Someone you know did this, small_ruminant? Major suckage.
