OHMYGODFINALLY!!!! Colts to the Super Bowl! [More:] My years of suffering fandom are over, for at least two weeks! No more handjobs of Brady and Belichick in the media! No more "Manning can't win the big games" and A-Rod comparisons! Bill Simmons has to shut the fuck up! Can you tell I'm excited?

Not to mention it's the matchup of my childhood dreams (growing up as I did in N. Indiana), and the first black head coach in the Super Bowl is overshadowed by the first matchup of black head coaches facing off in the Super Bowl! You're going to get so tired of that angle I guarantee. But sweet shit, Super Bowl!

Anybody got some extra tickets?
It's a sweet, sweet matchup. For sure. You and I are going to be on opposite sides of the couch. :)

I'm glad for the Colts. It was a good game, and the look on Manning's face when Brady threw that interception made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I've no particular hatred for the Patriots, like Simmons seems to imply (god, I like his writing, but his cries of personal and regional persecution are wearing a bit thin).

Wait, you watch the game? I only tune in for the dang ads. I'm sick.

I rooted for the Colts, despite my usual allegiance to only blue-state teams, until afterwards when the owner and coach said something like God being responsible for the win, and they could not take as much credit. Blech.

As if.

Great game. This does, however, fuck with my whole who-to-root-for calculus. Normally, as a Broncos fan, I am a hardcore AFC booster (exception: the devil's team, aka the fucking Raiders), which would make me naturally turn towards the Colts (additional incentive: I still feel sorry for Tony Dungy re: his kid's suicide). However, after living in Chi-town for so many years (and having been married to a die-hard Bears fan) I find the thought of rooting against Chicago to be completely unsettling. Also: all of Indy's god talk is, indeed, a bit much.

As a side note, this seems like the right time to mention that when Denver was knocked out of contention a few weeks ago, I actually had a nightmare that evening that the Broncos fired Mike Shanahan and re-hired Dan Reeves. I awoke in a cold sweat! Heh.

At least none of y'all happened to be RIGHT IN THE FUCKING HEART OF BOSTON when all this was happening. Miko and I were with friends down in Harvard Yard, and eating at a nice family-style theme restaurant.

Meanwhile, the BARTENDER of said establishment had the game on every screen and was literally screaming "I'm going to kill you, Peyton Manning, I'm going to kill you!" at the top of his lungs.

The bartender said this.

Go Colts.

Hee, LT. If you're gonna be a New Englander, get the geography right. The neighborhood is Harvard Square (the Yard is the actual campus), and Cambridge is *so* not Boston. The river is not much of a physical divide, but it's a HUGE mental divide. I had friends who simply refused to cross it. Pretty much ever.

And, um, go Colts.

/didacticism. At least for today. Probably.
