The Best Song Ever Written Ever in the Whole Everness of Everation...→[More:]where people drive around in Everudes with their MP3 Players filled with Everready batteries, looking fashionable in sleek Everwear.
I also love that song. That whole record is great. I am not that familiar with all his stuff since then, but I have to say that the follow-up was not anywhere near as good (to my ears anyway). I really liked his song that covered how weird it would have been if Marilyn Monroe had married Henry Miller intead of Arthur Miller.
Dan Bern's work is definitely uneven in quality, but fortunately he is incredibly prolific. Among his dozen or so albums there are real gems sprinkled into the mediocre stuff. Next to the 'Jerusalem' album, I recommend New American Language. He did that with his full band, the International Jewish Banking Conspiracy, and it's a nice, round, pop-rocky sound reminiscent at times of Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, and Bruce. Great songs on that one. I also like Fifty Eggs a lot.
