An assload of snow... [More:] We're getting an assload of snow here in Colorado. Already 18 inches at my house, and it's supposed to snow 'til tomorrow afternoon. (It started about 5 AM here). So think of all us snowed in bunnies. (actually I'm walking in to work at midnight for an 18 hour shift since no one can make it in.)
If I could, I'd be more than happy to take some of that snow, eekacat! It's been above freezing in Toronto for much of December and it just doesn't feel like xmas without some of that fluffy white stuff on the ground. :(

Heh, phoenixc, I actually like it, but I imagine there are lots of people that think this is a little much. Man, above freezing in Toronto in December. I used to spend some time there and that's hard to imagine...

My cousins were supposed to fly in today, but they're stuck in Denver!!!! Hopefully they can fly in soon; they have to get here for Christmas!

8 to 12 inches my aunt Martha. according to the highly scientific rail-o-meter & yardstick method there's upwards of 15" just already and it shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

well that's the bits that aren't blowing into six foot drifts in the parking lot, that is.

TPS, maybe your cousins could meet up with bunnyfire's son.

I want photos.

Seattle's weather is basically the same as Portland's, above. But then, we just survived windpocalypse '06 (some of my pals are still without power), so that's probably for the best.

It's warm and snowless here and I am so happy. I like the sun and be able to walk for an hour or more everyday. Yeaaaa for a green Christmas.

Pink, my son flies in late Friday night. I'm grateful because some of his classmates didn't get flights out till SATURDAY.

If not for this snow he'd be home right this minute.

The metro area is in a disaster emergency with 18 to 24 inches of snow expected by Thursday. DIA has been closed.

Disaster emergency?

Hope you guys aren't going to end up in some horrible cannibal battle once supplies run low.

The last time we had a really good snow my husband saw a ghost.

UPDATE: I got some sleep since I posted above, and just came in from shoveling the driveway again. Got another 6-8 inches, and it seems to be coming down harder now than when I was out before. Easily 2 feet at my house right now. Now I get to go to work.

LFR: I'd use snowshoes, but I don't own any... yet. My Sorels are huge waffle-soled things, damn near snowshoes on their own.

matildaben: I won't be home during daylight hours until Tuesday since I'll be working through then. I'll try to get some photos, but no guarantees.

Pi: I'm a combination stationary engineer/controls technician. Basically a blue collar grunt. Funny thing is though that when they send home "all non-essential employees" I have to stay. Go figure. Must be nice to be payed for being non-essential.

How far to work, eek?

Lonefrontranger, where are you?

It's been relatively balmy here, but started getting colder last night. According to my balcony thermometer, just one or two degrees above freezing now, and it's raining. So close to snow! But not.

Of course, if my husband takes the train home tomorrow night, as planned, snow would be lovely. If his work concludes early and he catches a ride with a friend tonight, which might happen, then I want the snow to hold off Icy roads + bad drivers = very nervous taz.

Those are of Boulder, Colorado. This is the most snow we've had this year.

I've seen more snow because I lived in Chicago for a while. Sometimes the snow in Chicago would shut down the whole city. I thought that was crazy for such a big city.

The salt trucks in Chicago are scary. You would change into a lane thinking "why isn't anyone in this lane?" And then you would see it: Salt Truck. And then you are desperately trying to change lanes before it releases a burst of car eating salt at you. But you are too late and it's like you're caught in a horizontal hail storm.

I wish it would snow here. This 60's crap in december is for the freakin birds. Looks beautiful out there. I have a friend who lives in Sterling Alaska. One of his favorite hobbies is to get stoned and sit in the woods and listen to the snow fall.

Okay, my holidaybunny is coming home by train... so it's okay for me to wish for snow. (for me, personally, that is, the implications of all my wishes somehow possibly having a negative effect on others is too much for my paltry soul to handle.) Not in the forecast, though, so unlikely.

So THAT'S what snow looks like. I'd forgotten.
