Are you sick of bad drivers and crappy parkers? [More:]I just saw Platewire on my local news. You can report bad drivers to them, and they post them on the internet for you. Yesterday I saw a site called you park like an asshole. YPLAA does the same thing for people who do piss poor parking jobs.
I am a piss poor parker. If I ever show up on one of these sites, I will cry.

I'M TRYING MY BEST!!

Intriguing idea... definitely better than road rage. (Some guy chased a friend of mine once in a fit of road rage; she'd accidentally cut him off during a lane change. He kept following her, and finally she pulled into someone's driveway and waited, not knowing what else to do. He pulled in behind her, then just backed out and left. Scary.)

On a lighter note, don't you just love those assholes with the fancy cars who deliberately take up two spaces in a parking lot presumably so no one will scratch their precious baby by parking next to them... makes me wanna take out my keys and...

*deep breath... release*

I with you there Pips, someone in the lot I use for work double parks their giant Xtera SUPER ACTION VEHICLE, a vehicle arguable designed for heavy action, but how dare anyone park near it.

I get a lot of satisfaction ratting two-space parkers out to the Facilities department at my company. Nowadays we enter Facilities requests as a Helpdesk ticket, so their parking infraction is there in the system for all time, too.

At my old apartment, there was a street spot that was just big enough for three cars, if everyone parked considerately. One neighbor even posted signs to the effect.

There was a guy who routinely did not pull all the way up (or back), thus depriving someone, oftentimes me, of a spot close to home. I put a big note under his windshield wiper saying "I PARK THIS WAY BECAUSE I'M INCONSIDERATE OF MY NEIGHBORS." Did the trick.

One of the things that sold me on my present house was the fact that it had a parking spot--no more prowling around the block at night, no more lugging groceries multiple blocks. I still bristle when I see someone parking without considering their neighbors.

This is the one that I see most often on the streets around here--it's mostly just folks not thinking about who else might need to find a spot.

I knew I should have posted this at Mefi instead... but I have an irrational fear of that place.

It's not irrational, goml.

That said, I parked like an asshole today but didn't realize it until I was leaving. Ah well, most of the parking lot was empty.

Someone took up two spaces with their Saab the other day in the hospital parking lot. Two of the closest spaces--the ones reserved for people having outpatient procedures. Thus forcing someone who is (or may be) actually ill to take the far walk from the visitors lot.

It took every ounce of restraint I had not to deeply key it. I can only hope that they were actually there for a procedure and that it was exceeding painful.

A jackass in a big truck parked taking more than the allotted 1 space. I was still able to park next to Jackass, but Jackass would have had to get in on the passenger side.

When I came out, jackass was gone, and I have several new dents that the cop says were likely caused by a gloved fist.

I got Jackass' plate #, but not much is likely to happen. It's about 1,000 worth of damage. Coincidentally, I have 1,000 deductible.

I try really hard to be considerate when parking, but people who build car parks need to stop making the spaces more and more narrow - in the car park at my train station, I have to park exactly in the middle of the spot to leave any room at all on either side of the car. I do drive a big car, a Nissan Patrol, but when I park in older shopping centres (for example), there is way more room than in newer ones.

My personal pet parking peeve (my, that's a lot of p) is people who sit in the car park roadway with their indicator on waiting for someone to load their groceries, strap the kids in, find the keys, make a phone call etc before they drive out of the parking spot. Find another spot, for God's sake! You could use the exercise anyway, you dumb fuck!

My old car was keyed even though I parked just fine. And someone snapped the passenger side mirror off of my new car (by hand, as there no more parking spots to the right of mine)--again, I had parked just fine. I don't know why I'm being punished.

Man, this is my best worst pet peeve issue!!! For many years, the only place to park was directly in front of my house. God forbid someone else took my place. I've been known to scream at neighbors for causing me to park a distance from my front door. I've left sickly sweet notes asking people not to park in front of my house (just last week, in fact). I have desires to egg their cars in the dead of night, so the egg will have hardened by the time it's discovered. ( I never have, just wished to). Where we live now, each house has two parking spots. Those of us on corners actually have three. My inconsiderate neighbors with the out-of-control teens have occasionally taken up nine places, between their cars and their children's "sleepover" girlfriends.
My other pet peeve, is when I pull straight forward in a parking spot, so I can pull straight out, and someone parks so close behind me that I can't get in my hatch. Aaarrrggghhh!!!!
