gifts that keep on giving you grief[More:]
So, i got these two amazing gifts out nowhere for my birthday (i must seem awfully in need) except the one has gone kerflooey and is in the shop and the other has just fallen flat with a dull poot.
Sigh.
Oh, bother.
Oh, well.
No big deal.
Despite it all, i feel strangely optimistic.
Maybe because the playlist where i keep all my mecha downloads is shuffling along as i figure out the rest of this day.
Sixteen Tons just happened to be on, so i give it back. (It was almost Butch Walker, and now it's the Pipettes.)
If anyone is around later and would like to share a chat and tipple, see you then (unless i'm hijacked by fleshbeasties with commendable chemical selections).
i'll don my fuzzy hat so i can talk about the weather.
You can leave what you like to amuse or make conversation.

i'll have all sort of questions for you.

I doff my hat in deference to the wind.

The main use of 16 Tons is the opening of Joe vs. the Volcano. Everything else was basically leading up to that.

What were the two gifts?

my ride has no sense of punctuality

iconomy, your curiosity will get the best of you.
It was a pretty little, frighteningly up to date laptop and a scanner printer without a usb cable (what the frilly heck?)

As for the laptop, it slowly became more and more of a revelation, until the logic board blew.
Badly paraphrasing myself: for years i'd been basically shoveling with a pitchfork, adding things to try and make it tolerable. One gets so use to the extra tribulation, shoveling with an actual shovel doesn't even feel right at first, then comes the awe of how the easy it is to make the dirt move.
The right tools make all the difference.
Of course, i'm telling you this from the end of my pitchfork.
It is a good pitchforth, though.

Hah...I'll bet it is! It's there, and not in the shop, right?
posted by iconomy 09 December | 16:50
Yep, although i'm not even sure if it is in the shop. They won't return my calls and i'm on the verge of getting all shirty with them on Monday if they don't call.
They're called [withheld]creek but i thought it was creep.
i don't think they noticed i was calling them creeps, i'm just afraid they might be.

Gonna be on later, hon?
i have an idea i particularly want to bounce off you.

Flaky people have blown my copacetic groove and i'm all ready to blow them all off like i have my own three posts in a row rule.

Alcohol suggestions?
i want something different, but not whiskey.

i'm also tempted to post all the un/mislabel music culled off the site here.
label properly or give out your decoder rings.
posted by ethylene 09 December | 18:36
I'll just quit giving out music. I'm keeping the decoder ring dammit.

Thank you. Your selection is being processed.

i think that ridiculously clever mouse has been hiding cherry pits in my stomping boots. It's licked the mousetrap clean and has been seen to leap over barricades a foot in the air.
I don't want it to die but it is too clever to catch and, frankly, i fear the black rice.

i should have gotten red wine to help me avoid the plague.
Now i have to wash my hands.
