I would like to buy you dinner... [More:]

... or supper.

I'd like a dozen oysters, a pound each of boiled shrimps and crawdaddies, a lobster with drawn butter and a porterhouse steak and maybe some vegetables. Also a cold bottle of Sancerre and maybe a bottle of that Coppola Black Label Claret for the porterhouse, then two double espressos and a large Calvados.

What would you like to have?
I would like a bowl of lobster bisque, with fancy buttery crackers. Then I liked some delicious baked chicken in a creamy savory sauce, with a side of corn & spinach salad and mashed potatoes. For desert I'd like sorbet. Champagne all throughout the meal.

Spinach salad and mashed potatoes sounds awesome, with a little bacon and mushrooms and a lemony dressing, I'll have some of that. I love that you find baked chicken delicious pinks, I think that is a mark of a healthy personality.

Here's the most amazing meal I've ever had--let's do that!

Rack of ribs, slow smoked and meat-falling-off-the-bone tender; corn on the cob with a trough of melted butter and salt; side of baked beans with brown sugar and bacon; basket of cheddar biscuits; pitcher of pink lemonade; key lime pie (the real thing), cuban coffee, and a bottle of McCallen 18 (I like to keep things legal); pile of napkins, mint toothpic.

Oh, sure!

I would like Argentinian Steak. Any way they make it (medium rare) I am fine with it. Chimichurri I think they call it. It tastes like it. And wine. A lot of wine. Red, probably Merlot. You do the honors.

Salad and dessert are totally peripheral. Maybe I will ask a sesame-ginger dressing on my tomato/cucumber salad, or cumin-coriander, I don't know, it's a toss up. For the dessert I want something with chocolate. But it does not really matter, as long as the steak is Argentinian.

And then of course, amaretto.

Okay? What time?

now I am hungry, you and your morning ideas!

That is exactly what I want now that I think of it.

I'd like to start with an order of crab cakes with honey mustard sauce for dipping, and maybe some herbed goat cheese on the side. For the entree, a thick rare Porterhouse with Au Gratin Potatoes, and creamed spinach. For dessert, a nice vanilla creme brulee. Accompanied by some La Fin Du Monde beer, a Macallan 18, and an Irish Coffee.

A real Ceasar Salad, with anchovies. Filet of lamb, medium rare, with lamb gravy, asparagus shoots dipped in melted honey butter, mashed potatoes. Pecan pie a la mode for desert, spanish coffee to digest.

TPS's dinner sounds good only make the soup tomato bisque and dessert creme brulee. Yummm.

A real North Philly-German Town-Ghetto Cheesestaek. A side of "Dooky Big" Georgia Tater Logs smothered in A-1 and a big slice of Junior's Carrot Cheescake. Yummy, yummy, yum, yum!
Oh yeah...a tall glass of cold Ovaltine to wash it all down would be spectacular.

A classic Caesar Salad, the real deal with the raw egg and the anchovies. Then pasta, a serious puttanesca with octopus or squid in it and bacon for that smoky taste and calamata olives. Like I had it that one time in the 80s in a part of Little Italy that's Chinatown now. I suppose, failing that, that I could also see a filet mignon with sauce bearnaise, potatos Anna and green beans almondine. With either a good cabernet to go with that or Cold Mountain (scroll down to the bottom). Chocolate cake for dessert with Turkish coffee and a snifter of good brandy.

Now I will go eat my rice & greens for lunch. . .

*high fives muddgirl over primacy of real Caesar salad. Then whimpers at realization of how damn difficult it is to find one.*

I'm in a seafood/bar food kinda mood, so I could really go for, say, a cup of crawfish chowder, some fried calamari and an oyster po-boy with some kind of garlicky potato dish on the side. And some kind of heady, winey, dark, high-alcohol beer--Aventinus, Mephistopheles, something along those lines.

All this talk of food is making me hungry. Who wants to do dinner in Harlem tonight? Anybody?

Please trawl the sea, all the way to the bottom where the crustaceans frolic. Take the net and broil the contents just so and bring them to me with a large trough of butter and a bucket for the shells.

Please do this in one of the European countries where they don't freak out if a pregozoid sips a glass of wine or a beer with her dinner. I don't even care what kind it is, I just want to feel like a grown-up again.

Thanks you! I have the mussels in white wine sauce to start, with fresh crusty baguette for dipping, then the filet mignon with those mushrooms that the Green Street Cafe puts on top, roasted asparagus and some sort of sophiticated potato dish. I'd also like that merlot I had at the Green Street Cafe (I've been trying to remember what it was for ten years, because that was the best damn wine I've ever had). For dessert I'd like a very small portion of something lethally chocolate, and an Isley scotch.

jrossi, my mother always referred to herself as a pregnosaur, and drank half a beer a day when she was carrying my little brother because the doctor told her it was a good idea.
