Hope me, hope myself. Need laptop advice(s). [More:]Dear friendly mechas,
I need to buy a laptop ASAP. I don't need any fancy doodads. Just a very basic (the cheapest available possibly) laptop. I would like an AMD processor but beyond that the only thing I NEED is the ability to connect to the intertubes.

Is newegg where I'm going to find the best prices or is there someplace cheaper (please don't say ebay)?

Hugs and kisses my bitches!

p.s. - NOTICE HOW I DID NOT HAVE TO RELY ON THE ADMINS TO MI THIS POST! (I'll totally forget again next time probably.)
Though I've never bought from 'em, I browse laptopcloseout a lot--many refurbs and whatnot, and they carry Thinkpads, which are, at this point, probably the only laptop I'd consider buying.

Then again, I've only had good experiences with Newegg.

How ASAP is ASAP? Your favorite big-box retailers will all have Black Friday laptop deals.

I'd reckin' that froogle is your best bet if price is the main factor.

If WalMart still has it, this was a very good deal. Compaq Presario V5305WM Laptop For $398 @ Walmart (digg) If it's over, keep an eye out for similar "Black Friday" deals. BTW, I hate the term blackfriday, and I hate the marketing push to ruin the nice long holiday, but I can't resist a great deal. Sigh, the marketers have won.

Unfortunately by ASAP I really meant that I probably should have purchased YESTERDAY. More realistically I need to purchase (either in person or online) and have it in my possession by Wednesday morning. Because apparently, I like making my life that much more difficult. (I'm kinda sorta kidding - I just found out I would need this yesterday.)

You people are awesome. I love all of you and your texty consumer-ing goodness. Thanks for the tips so far.

Check out Fatwallet.com. Go to the Hot Deals forum where members post deals they find and other members discuss the deal and vote it up or down. You get both a heads-up on good deals and a discussion about the merits of the product, better deals elsewhere, etc. Here is a search for laptop deals.

Dell has great deals on occasion.

Newegg good. Look at tigerdirect also; their prices start at ~350 for refurb thunkpads.
