Hey man, is that FREEDOM ROCK? [More:]Well, TURN IT UP, MAN!
That is so sweet - takes me back to, well, 6 months ago when I last saw one of these adverts on satellite TV.

Also: The Band's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is one of the finest pieces of music, like, evah. Man.

I'm partial to Up on Cripple Creek myself.

I love those commercials.

That version of 'The Weight' that they did with the Staple Singers? Pure gold.

(Also, I just watched Wattstax, and my favorite scene might've been the one of the Staples family, on the way to the Oakland Coliseum, sitting in the back of the limo eating ribs.)

Don't forget K-Tel's Pure Power ad, featuring KISS and ALice Cooper as you never imagined them!

The latest Band box set is nice - the DVD in it has home movie footage of them playing in a cabin somewhere for the sessions for The Band album. I work with an American guy who saw them play live when he was growing up. I think he also might have seen Zeppelin.

The Weight is a fantastic track; Nickel Creek work that into their set and make a good job of it.

I love The Band too. I just wanted to say that.

I always wondered who did the original of "Sunshine" - Paul Westerberg did a cool cover of that song.
