I Crave East Coast Thread Tomfoolery! [More:]I need a big-ass shot of JonMC, Divine Wino, Hugh Janus, Joe Famous, Hellbient and Pink!

Any chance you striplings could get to Boston with me and the Missus some fine day? Or do we have to drag our tired New England asses to NYC for fun and frolic?

I'se itching for meetups with the East Coastahs!
Hmm, let's see, YOU want to meet with all of us, and we're supposed to drag our asses to Boston, when barely any of us own cars?

Come on silly, you know the answer to this question. Tell us when you're coming and we'll be there :-D

LT, I've always said that you'd fit in fine with the NYC crew, so you are welcome down here anytime you'd like. (and I can vouch for the fact that all the people you mention are even cooler in person).

(you forgot Tennessee Sam)

posted by jonmc 02 November | 14:26
Oh yeh - cars and shit. Oooooooooops. K. NYC is fine, too.

(LT has only been in NE for a month and has forgotten his bus-riddled existence in Seattle...)

BWOOP! BWOOP! Warn me well in advance so I can make sure and be there and demonstrate for you the perfect application of the "Brooklyn Galaxy Fist."

LT - "Boston" is uptown. WAY UPTOWN.

You just opened youself a major can of worms.

(If not for clases, I'd gladly motor up.)

Oh, um, and heh - Gaspode. Heh. Don't kill me.

/me secretly wouldn't mind dying by Gaspodian hands.

Brooklyn Galaxy Fist sounds like a local lager to me, DW. Or if not, it should be.

It's a martial arts technique that one uses on spiders to severely disrupt their chi.
posted by Divine_Wino 02 November | 15:01
Give us plenty of warning and maybe some of us from down here could come up.
posted by danostuporstar 02 November | 15:09
Jaysus! You have to use martial arts on the spiders in NYC??? Man, and I felt sorry for y'all just because of the whole cockroach thing, but NOW....

DW - what happens if you kung fu a spider and lose?

Evidently East Coast = NYC now? Oh, SNAP

Of course it means New York, whadja think it meant, fuckin' Delaware? That state's two toll booths and a fart smell buddy, sheeesh.

(As long as I'm always gonna be accused of being a New York Chauvinist* on metachat I'm gonna act like one from now on. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaakin' heeeeeeeyuh.)

*You didn't do that mike.

Now who wants nathans and an egg cream, can't make 'em anywhere else, something in the water, nowhatimsayin?
posted by Divine_Wino 02 November | 15:17
No, East Coast equals Any Bunny that is in New England or NYC for my immediate can-get-to-'em-quick-enough purposes. No offense to people outside of this region.
posted by Lipstick Thespian 02 November | 15:17
If it wasn't clear, that was a joke, based on previous heated discussions on this here site, to which D_W alluded.

I thought it was funny.

Massive offense to you stupid hicks, massive fucking offense. Suck it poopchutes, SUCK ON IT. NEW YAAAAAWKKKK RULES!!!!!!!!

Wheh, sorry. Actually I wish I lived almost anywhere else. Someday the farm in New Hampshire, I swear.

Hi Everybody!

LT, it's not a technique used in New York much, my friend invented it for fucking up the massive Australian spiders he encountered while working at a vineyard there. New York spiders are just regular.

posted by Divine_Wino 02 November | 15:27
Oh, I coulda predicted that the ol' New Yorkers don't want to leave their boroughs (burrows?) let alone go to other cities where there be dragons. WE'll get down there eventually.

But may I suggest...

as long as you're into the stupid juice already, here's some good drunken flailing music.

(note: while YSi'ing that shit there was a banned ad asking me to 'fill out a brief bipolar questionairre.' I can only imagine:

Question 1: Name?
Question 2: Want to rule the world with me? Come on!
Question 3: Age?
Question 4: what's the best weapon to end your own pointless life with? *gnashing of teeth*)
posted by jonmc 02 November | 16:13
Oh don't worry, Miko, it's not that we hate to leave; it's just a little more difficult when you don't have a car. Someday (when I can get around to renting a car; which probably won't be until after I'm older and it's cheaper, bwahaha), I'm gonna take Stynxno on a road trip up to New England to show him where I used to live on the North Shore in MA; and I imagine we'll take a spin around Portsmouth :-)
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 November | 16:16
Car rentals aren't that expensive, esp. if you pick it up at an airport. Hrmmmm.

*pulls out calendar*

(oh... IF I'm invited, of course :) )

Miko - Amtrak is *really fucking expensive*. (I'm a big train user -- but I'm in a two-person reasonable income household). I would totally share some driving detail up, though!

TPS -- You can get the train! Right from Penn!

Ok! So is that where I should pick you up when you come down to NYC?
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 November | 16:48
Ach, come to the Apple. LT needs to piss on a fire hydrant with the crew.
posted by jonmc 02 November | 16:49
On preview: DAMN, Amtrak is expensive. I just looked to see what it would cost if I took the train this weekend, Friday to Sunday. Over $100 a person- and that was the low end! Shit, the Fung Wah is $15 each way. Although neither of those options is as easy (or desirable) as taking a car straight from your house.

Amtrak is *really fucking expensive*

I know. I used to ride it all the time. I even have a rant all about how Amtrak's budget keeps getting slashed while we keep using tax money to subsidize our road-based travels...

But last time I drove down to the NY area, it cost me about $90 anyway in gas and tolls.

Anyhow -- LT started this, not me. I'm sure we'll be down there before any of y'all are seen up here.
posted by Miko 02 November | 16:52
awwwww... and we could have hung out just a few weeks ago...
posted by gaspode 02 November | 16:58
You can get a discount on Amtrak if you have AAA--but you have to buy the ticket at least three days in advance.

Well, how about showing LT the tree in Rockefeller Center? How about it, Miko and LT? NYC for the holidays? We could all troop back to JonMc and Pips's place for hot cocoa and caroling. Whaddyathink? Even a Joisey bunny could make plans if given plenty of time.

(and I'm with gaspode for being left out of the initial invite-humphf!)

Tell you what - y'all manage to throw together a big Nor' Easter of a meetup (in NYC-ish Boston-ish places) and I am SO THERE.

It will be like the new Vegas.

Yeah. :)

I think you should all come out to the Philly burb boonies and stay in my barn. Allow me to brag once again about my scrapple oven. SCRAPPLE! Melted snouts and such! You can't do that in NYC or NE.
posted by jrossi4r 02 November | 22:43
When I have a place of my own, you and Miko are invited to the housewarming. I'll let you know in advance.

I am the world's biggest sucker for NYC at Christmas, and am happy to gawk and drool like a Midwestern Tourist at the store windows, the tree, and the rest of midtown splendor. I also love love love the Bryant Park and Union Square holiday markets, and especially Little Italy at Christmas time, with some coffee and pastries at Ferrara.

I'll see what I can do...

Just sayin'

posted by redvixen 03 November | 18:42
Aw, I feel left out! Then again, I haven't swung by the Bunny in a while, so that's understandable.

I'll have you know that I *did* go to Boston recently on a Greyhound bus and it wasn't as traumatizing as I thought it would be. Amtrak fare rates to Boston is just stupid-ridiculous, though.

I agree with the rest of the NYC-crew: You two should come to see us.
