Ask MeCha. Damn popunders. [More:]Does anybody else get those damn popunder adverts for Drive Cleaner that just won't go away until you've closed about four different windows that follow the first one that appears?

I have pop-up blockers enabled in Firefox, as well as Adsgone running, but still I get these damn things. How do I stop them?

And I also get the occasional 'media fastclick' window too.

Hope me, oh computer brainiacs of Metachat.
Sounds to me like you've got something local. I'd run spybot, adaware, and hijack-this to see if it clears up.

so help me, I read that as "po pounders," and pictured someone beating up a poor Teletubbie.

I scan regularly with spybot, adaware, Pest Patrol, I have AVG and also ZA Pro which runs spyware scans, I run Super Cleaner and Bug Doctor from time to time, and have had a clean machine for a while with nothing picked up by any of those.

Googling has brought up a few things - it's described as 'nagware', where the initial 'window' is in fact an image file. Other people have had the same problem with this 'popup', but only appear to have long-term problems if they actually go ahead and install the thing it's advertising.

I know I go lots of places on the web I probably oughtn't, which is why I try to keep a clean PC.
