Anyone on WinXP familiar with Address Book can give me a hand... ? [More:]My mom's on WinXP (I'm on Mac). I'm trying to talk her thru exporting her address book to a text file... everything seems to work fine... except we can't find the file. Here's what we did (over the phone--I can't see her computer):

1. In Address Book she highlights her group email (Friends and Family).
2. Choose file > export
3. choses other > text delimited file
4. follows the prompts
5. clicks finish

She's told it works... then, she can't find the text file. Where'd it go? She searched her My Documents and it doesn't come up. WTF MS?!?!

Help? Please and thank you.

When she gets to the part where it prompts 'save exported file as', there's a 'browse' button, so that she can pick where the file is saved to. She should pick her desktop so it's easy to find. Also, what is she naming the file? She can always do a search for it: Start > Search > All Files and Folders > All or Part of the Filename. If she called it Bob, for instance, she would type just the word Bob in, and click Search, and if there's a file named Bob on her computer, she'll get a message telling her what directory folder it's in.

On my WinXP it prompts you to choose a location to save the file. Her first screen after choosing to export should say "Save exported file as..." and there should be a browse button to the right of the filename box.

But maybe my address book is fancy.

Aargh. That appears to be exporting the entire address book. We just want to export the addresses in a particular group. Anyone know if that's possible?

I don't think so, but she can easily open the file and delete whatever contacts or groups she doesn't want saved to it.

Thanks, ico. Unfortunately, we're talking hundreds of addresses so deleting is a pain.

Does she have a spreadsheet? Import, sort on Group, then delete rows as necessary.
