Theo's being really cool about it: much cooler than I would be if the puppy hung from my cheeks the way he does with Theo. I mean literally. I mean he grabs onto Theo's face with those sharp little puppy teeth and doesn't let go until he's shaken off. He thinks it's hilarious and Theo gets this martyred expression which is hilarious to humans.

rainbaby, I doubt anyone's going to sleep on that couch ever again. We seem to have totally transitioned to a humans on the floor, dogs on the couch living style, partly because the whole living room, but particularly the couch, smells so vividly of damp doggy.

Love it. Theo's face is all like "meh, whatever".

Oooh, he's gorgeous. He looks like an English Springer Spaniel. If so, he'll have boundless energy.

He looks like a fop. Or maybe a dandy. I mean that as a compliment, though.

What is the difference between a fop and a dandy, tangerine? I think one can be a dandy without being a fop, but not vice versa.

Dunno. I think if a guy is meticulously attentive to his own dress and grooming, and you think he's a tedious idiot, he's a fop. But if you like and respect the guy, he's a dandy.

So I guess Django's a dandy.

Awww, lucky dog! How old is he, mgl? And he does look like a Springer Spaniel.

According to the vet who checked him briefly for a microchip (not there) and my mom's friend the dog groomer, who ooohed and ahhed over him for quite a while, he's a pure bred English Springer Spaniel, about 8 weeks old. He just this minute went outside and peed - oooh, lovely puppy! - and came in and peed again right by my chair. So sweet. And he is a fop & a dandy, Springers always are, and I wanted to name him Chauncey, but my daughter, who after all actually found him in the first place, bowed to pressure from her boyfriend and brother who both said unkind things about the name Chauncey, although I pointed out that you really can't call a spaniel Fang or Killer or White Death. Thus, after some acrimony, we all settled on Django.

Eight weeks old? Purebred? It's really weird that no one claimed him, but lucky you!
