OMG Corn Maze! I got lost in this maze last weekend, or rather the 2006 version (I think this one is two years old).[More:]It's located on Sauvie Island, a pastoral preserve in the Columbia River, just north of Portland.
I love a good corn maze! Our usual one closed down last year and we ended up at one where you had to answer bible trivia questions to navigate. (Fortunately, being a lit major taught me a heck of alot about the good book, or we'd STILL be stuck in that heathen trap.)

We're trying a new one this weekend. I can't wait! CORN MAZE!!

Miles, there were signs warning that those caught throwing corn would be ejected, and I encountered two teenage "corn cops" (that's what their t-shirts said) on the raised bridges in the maze. I figured if I got hopelessly lost, I could just fling some ears of corn around and somebody would come and drag me out.

Get this, yall: I brought a date with me to the corn maze and farm festival. It was our fifth date, and things had been going pretty well up to that point. We always had something to talk about and I thought she was very cute. The corn maze date put an end to that!

She was noticeably uncomfortable with the very concept of doing something like this for entertainment. She actually refused to go into the barn to look at all the cute goats and lamas. When I said, I don't understand, why not, she reluctantly followed me. For the rest of the morning she kept saying things about not being cut out for 'the simple life,' whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean.

Lesson: You may think someone's compatible with you, but till you take them out to try the full range of things you enjoy, you may not realize they've got some seriously disturbing prejudices.

Would you rather be lost in a porn maze?

Wow, she nixed the llamas? (there was a llama farm next to me elementary school! I loved those dirty little guys!) (and goats are so cute when they eat your shirt!) (suspects Pi and me are perfectly suited for each other...)

I gotta go, but I just have to say: DON'T let your kids ride the cow-train! I'm not joking. Although it does sound kinda funny.

(My girlyfriend and I saw the kid in the last cow almost get creamed by the hayride tractor.)

How was it during the day? We went on Friday night and minus those obnoxious teenage boys it was pretty cool. The key is to go before the "fright maze" starts and it rains (the mud and the puddles get horrible!).

Was she into picking out pumpkins?

Was she into picking out pumpkins?
Not in the least. And worse still, I pointed out that a large flock of birds was obviously because of the plentiful food. She was all, Huh? I motioned towards the sunflowers and said "sunflower seeds." She looked perplexed and said "I guess I never really thought about where sunflower seeds came from before. I just figured you got them from a bag in the store."

She had seemed pretty normal up to this point.

I think you got hold of the wrong fish, pie. Better throw that one back and try again.

How can you not like goats and llamas?! What a weirdo.
