I didn't expect to enjoy this site because I'm not much of a fashion person. Fourteen pages later, I'm charmed to think there is a country on this planet where my natural style preferences, rather than branding me as an odd thrift-store freak, would position me on the cutting edge of street fashion.
The following seem to be the Rules of Helsinki Fashion: there are no rules. Reject the very idea of fashion; that is the highest fashion. Prize creativity and originality above all else. Customize everything. Buy secondhand. Better yet, don't buy at all -- take your parents' or grandparents' clothing, or trash-pick. Whatever outfit you have on, be prepared to cite your inspiration. Dress your friends.

Sweden and dark nights inspire me. Days are getting shorter, nights are getting darker. You need to do something!
The Pope is stylish. I like the pompous style of the Roman Catholic Church.
I've got two styles: boyish and girlish.
It's interesting. There's still a fair amount of designer name-checking, but overall, I think the emphasis on individual variety is super healthy and fun. This looks to be all part of the big Opt Out that seems to be gathering steam in Western culture. More to think about....
Also, I like this lady's look. Bob Dylan could cite her as his inspiration.
I agree--in amongst the hi-friggin-larious outfits are some pretty cool clothes and attitudes towards fashion. However, I feel I must say:
Aaagh. I damn well hope he doesn't mean REAL seal.
For the love of god, shane, look at the man. Does he look like someone who has ever let the pain of others stand in the way of his quest for Ultimate Fashion?
