Please hope me. My fu is weak. [More:]

I need help finding cost differences in light bulbs. That's right, light bulbs. I need to know how much more a full-spectrum 48" T8 fluorescent bulb costs than a regular 48" T8.

Isn't my job fascinating?
Would something like this help?

Call an electrical and / or lighting contractor for a rough quote. In the Portland area we've got A-Boy and Platt Electric among many, many others. I've used Platt before.

Hell, if you have access to a Grainger catalog, they have this stuff, too.

(Sometimes a phone book really is a better resource than THA INTARNETS...)

Are these the right kind of bulbs?
Full spectrum

Regular

occhi, that's what I've been looking at, and I need something more generic.

Unfortunately those aren't quite the right types, goml.

dersins, I was trying to avoid calling a contractor because I can't guarantee that my client would then purchase from them, but I think it'll be fine and I just need to ask.

Thanks very much, all!

Now can we talk about underseepage?

They're used to that, though. That's part of the bidding process...

dersins is right - sometimes the Yellow Pages is the best resource (not the on-line one, either - the actual dead tree thingy.

Don't sweat about calling suppliers to ask for prices - they get dozens of people calling them every day fishing for the best deal.

I had a whole spiel about the Kelvin scale, color renditions, etc.

But it got eaten in one of the outages here and I am being petulant (and time crunched) and not retyping it.

Speck, email me if you want some more info. . I have some experience with all this.

Thanks danf. I, too, know all about the color rendering index and correlated color temperature etc etc... I think it may be time to educate my client.

I think your job IS fascinating, Specklet... but I'm a fan of minutae. :)
