Ooooh! Aaaah! Wonderful! Just a little update, since I'm not in front of a computer all day anymore.

So, after I quit my job I went on a couple weekend vacas, one to Virginia to visit my nephew (and his parents), and one to visit a friend in Massachusetts' lovely Berkshires, while my temp firm cast about for new positions for me.
Of course, they haven't come through yet, and it's a little frustrating to have left a dozen messages for my coordinator without being responded to. But the job is another one in the same field, which would, even with a high rate of pay, be impermanent in any case (I wanna be a LION TAMER!).
I guess they think I'm more dependent on them than I am.
I spent the past weekend in New Jersey doing some accounting work for a friend, who then hooked me up with a home restoration job later in the month, and some landscaping work as well. I spent the past couple days tooling around Brooklyn and Midtown, assisting my friend the location scout (for commercials/TV shows). Made next month's rent and then some.
I'm meeting my landlady in a bit to talk about work with her; a web design job needs doing and she could use some light warehouse organization. Bingo!
So being unemployed is a pretty busy time, plus I've been reading stacks'o'books, including
Silence, by Shusaku Endo.
Had a great time last week at Gaspode's party, and I hope to get together with my favorite mechanisms soon.
Rock on!
