Cheap lodging in Colorado Springs? →[More:]At the end of October I'm going to a conference at the Broadmoor, whose rooms start at $190/night.

Even setting aside the cost, I don't like the Broadmoor vibe, and I'd like to get away from my fellow conference goers. I'd like stay at a Motel 6 or something equivalent.

Questions:

1) Is there a better option than Motel 6 for the same price (~$40/might)? The room needs to be non-smoking, which I hear is an issue in Colorado.

2) How feasible is it to bicycle around Colorado Springs? Motel 6 is only 2 or 3 miles from the Broadmoor, but if there are 3000 feet of elevation or 3 Interstates in between, I'll drive.

3) I haven't figured out the logistics of bringing a bicycle. Any suggestions?

1) colorao is very anti smoking. just passed state wide anti-smoking in public places law.

2)there are a lot of cool old motels/cabiny places in manitou springs area close to pikes peak, i would look in that area-its a little farther from the broadmoor, but the difference in atmosphere is worth it imo. plus you can probably find a great deal now that the summer tourists are gone.

2) c-springs is very bike friendly, very easy to bike around

3)dont know about that, but I think if you can swing it you should--there are a lot of great places that are bikeable(garden of the gods, pikes peak, cheyenne canon)in your off time

oh yeah i forgot to mention, there is a house really near the broadmoor that has a bunch of wicked cool sculptures that do cool things in the wind-you should def check that out. just ask anyone for directions, everyone knows where its at.
