The Cardigans vs religion. Gaspode's
link below made me finally share what has been my favorite song of the summer, even though I think it came out last year.
→[More:] It's called "Godspell," and besides being a gorgeous pop song, seems to speak to the whole insanity that is apparently holding the world hostage right now:
You can hear it in the beat they march to
And you can feel the earth shake
when they start to dance
You can tell by the way they move you
It's not murder, it's an act of faith, baby
And as the world moves faster
Whip-lashing us around and round
It's quite a slow disaster
And people keep on
falling down
That's just my favorite bit- the rest of the lyrics are available online, and are easy enough to understand if you hear the song. The "slow disaster" bit has been ringing in my ears a lot as I watch the goings-on in Lebanon and Israel, not to mention the part about "You can feel the earth shake when they start to dance."
Musically, this kicks ass too, esp. some of Nina Persson's gorgeous multitracked vocals. I've really gained a new appreciation of the Cardigans lately, and this song is the best I've ever heard from 'em.
