Grownups are dumb. Doing the right thing - the
wrong way. Or - how, I lost a baby boot not ten feet from my house.

I'm carrying Perle on my chest, she's wearing her brand new Mini Harley boots and sleeping, so I shuffle slowly, crossing the very crowded strøget in slow-mo (because people push and shove before they see that I'm carrying a baby).
I hear a "thunk" and register this at the most a minute and ten shuffled feet later. Oh, right, the "thunk" was her boot. So I shuffle back, spying for lost boot on the ground. When I can't find it I ask a girl standing outside a shoe shop "sorry, but have you seen a little baby boot like this one?"
...after wasting time on the usual "do you speak English? Danish? Do you understand my Danish?" since I asked in Swedish, she replies:
- "Oh! Yes, a kid
just came in with one and asked if it belonged here. I said no and sent him to the shop next door. Hurry you might catch him!"
wtf?
Go to shop next door. Two even dimber bulbs work there. They had sent the kid packing to the
next shop.
After a hunt up and down all of strøget, I must now admit defeat and we'll never see her boot again.
The kid who picked it up - described as 'so tall' and wearing a "save christania t-shirt" - probably wanted to do the right thing but it went oh-so wrong because he asked the wrong grownups waht to do. Still can't get over how stupid these shop girls were. It's a
baby boot,
leave it where it was dropped!. GRRRR.
