Thank God for the companies that offer 0% on balance transfers for X months. I'd use up the 0% period, then transfer the remaining balance onto another 0% card. That was the only way I was able to make any inroads into paying it off.

That's what I did. I still have about 6-8 months left to go before I pay it all down, though.

I've got one more credit card to go. I keep a small one, to pay off each time, just to keep my credit good (or at least decent) Congrats, essexjan! What a great feeling!

Not in the UK. My Experian file will show that I've had a debt that's never been in default (through various lenders) and which is now clear, so that's a very good thing as far as future lenders are concerned.

I did that switcheroo thing last year and paid off my CC supafast afterward. I switched from my 1st CC with a supahigh APR that I'd had for 6 years to one with sweetass perks.
