AskMecha - Have you ever... →[More:]...had a dream in which you were a different race?

I was a Chinese woman in last night's semi-futuristic dream (perhaps I'm watching too much Firefly, although I don't think that's truly possible). I was a black woman in a dream last year (very vivid, still sticking with me) that seemed to be set in the 1930s or 1940s.

Please put aside all arguments about race. Just answer the flippin' question!

I don't think I've been another race in a dream but I have been killed in my dreams before. A vivid dream about running away in Nazi Germany with my father, when we dove into a river, they started shooting and I woke up just as the bullets started to hit me. It was very difficult to go back to sleep.

No, but I've had sex with spiders and space aliens before in my dreams. Even got an anullment from one on Mars in a cave.

The weirdest thing I've had along those lines was when I dreamed that I was my husband as an adolescent.

Come to think of it, no - not as a different ethnicity. Different sex, though.

Lots of melee combat (and runnings away), generally.

I've had dreams in which I was a different species, but not race. (I've been animals, aliens, mythic creatures, and one time a 3-foot long green twinkie. I am not making this up.)

One time I was in the Daytona 500, but before I hit the 10th lap, I found myself in the Utah Salt Flats time trials. Freaked me out to no end.

I dream in color, too, and often. I used to keep a dream diary-which was interesting to pick up again after a long time. I've had nightmares about my kids that still haunt me. I don't think I've been another race, but I've certainly been a different person, and with different people. And I dreamed once that I was on top of a huge slide, and when I got to the bottom, I realized I had been shot. That was years ago, and I still remember it.

I also dream in colour and I've been a man (only once that I recall), a chicken and I have woken up laughing (and laughed in my sleep per the mister). No TV characters although famous people sometimes make an appearance.

One time I had a dream that I was a nazi soldier, except we had big fighting mechs and lasers. I ended up getting killed though.
