My personal information has been lost, this is the second time for me.[More:]
I just found out today, last time I didn't do anything to protect myself, but this time I want too. What in TX, can I do to tell the credit agencies that I don't want my report given to anyone without my permission? can i do that? Anyone have any personal experiences with this?
Locking your credit report...

Once your credit is locked, new credit can't be extended until "unfrozen".

Unfortunately there are fees involved for freezing and unfreezing with each credit report bureau — at least until enough citizens get ripped off from identity theft and demand their legislators pass adequate privacy laws.

unfair. seems like companies can be as irresponsible as they like with your data with consequence. if you do the same? tough shit.

surely whoever's responsible for this should pick up the tab and fix the damage they've caused.

I feel your pain. At least Time-Warner gave all of us a year of free credit "monitoring" with Equifax... any time there's any action on my credit report, I get a text message on my cell phone, and an email on my work and home addresses. It works well (I got an alert when I did a home equity loan), and so far, no sneaky stuff has happened.
