I once went to this giant annual powwow in Connecticut. It's called Schemitzun, and it's a huge long festival of all things native. Anyway, part of the weekend's entertainment was this native comedian...he had a lot of great political humor, but the thing that will always remain with me is this. Part of his show was a long riff on white people wanting to claim Indian ancestry. So he said to the audience, in the character of an eager white person, "You're Indian? Wow! My grandmother was...."

And the entire audience shouted back in perfect unison "A Cherokee Princess!"

HA HA! That is SO TRUE. A friend of mine sarcastically said once, "there are white skins that are more native than ME!" SE is a full blood Cherokee.

One always had the feeling he though "white skins" where very silly. His eyes would LOL quite often.
