02 June 2006

It's official: I'm moving![More:]A friend and I went and saw the apartment last night- it was very cute and pretty large in terms of square footage. It has some quirks, mainly a showerhead that's only as high as my neck (I'm not a giant, I swear), but I think overall it will be a fine place to live! I just paid the deposit, and come July 1st, I'll be living by myself! Yaaaaaaaay!
I can't wait to go to IKEA and decorate it all cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!

Congrats! No more anal roomates!

Still in Astoria? Can't leave the hood, homie.
posted by jonmc 02 June | 11:42
Supacool, TPS! You still in Queens?

I have that showerhead problem too, it just wets my beard unless I crouch like I'm hunting capybara with a blowgun.

Congrats TPS!

When's the party?

Honey, you KNOW I'm still in Queens! Like I could ever leave. I'm about 3 long blocks from where I am now- closer to you, in fact, jonmc!

"...fish don't fry in da ki-chun...uh (doo-doo-doo)....beeenz don't burn on da grill..."

This is so you can shower and not mess up your beehive hairdo, Hugh.

Does the move closer to jonmc portend something? Will TPS move again? If each move halves the distance to jon's crib, how long will it take before they collide?

And...

WE WANT PICTURES!!!!!!

I will have to post pictures once I decorate! I can't waaaaaaait to go to IKEA and make the place all cozy and fun. A couch, mmmmmmm. And lots of fuzzy cushions and ottomons to help Twinkie climb on the couch by herself.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 11:51
Congrats, sweetie. And you can get a new showerhead with an arm that makes it go up higher. The boy has one.
posted by dame 02 June | 11:56
Get a flexible gooseneck extension shower head, it'll screw on to replace the one that's there. Then you can raise it up. Water pik makes one.

Also, the plural of "ottoman" is clearly "ottomen."

Oh, fantastic! What a relief that must be. Congratulations!

I am so jealous.

Ooo, thanks for the showerhead tip. (Here's something random....) I've showered in dame's boy's shower and it's lovely, and knowing that comforts me.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 12:01
The boy has one.

An arm? I should hope so. Although a hook would be somewhat rakish.
posted by jonmc 02 June | 12:03
Oh, I forgot that you showered in there. (It was to remove the hair.) So get one like that! (Also, I can't wait to return the apartment visit after you visit mine. Yay!)
posted by dame 02 June | 12:09
YAAAAAAAAAAAY so fun.

a flexible gooseneck extension

No wonder cmonkey is jealous. I understand jon has one, since he can pee in the toilet without getting out of bed.
posted by warbaby 02 June | 12:15
This is the solution to the showerhead problem. It replaces the arm (which just unscrews easily) and so you can still use the existing showerhead, or any other showerhead of your choice. I installed one of these when I moved into my current "designed-for-midgets" apartment's bathroom, and I love it. (I can't stand those silly detachable showerheads with hoses, and besides I don't want to have to hold the damn thing in order to wash my hair, I just want to step under it.)

dame: Oh, I forgot that you showered in there. (It was to remove the hair.)

There is NO WAY I am letting you either of you out of this thread until you provide more info here.

I shaved her head at my boyfriend's house.

Now, can anyone recommend a showerhead solution to low water pressure? I know it can't fix everything, but there has to be comething better than the fancy peice of crap I have now.
posted by dame 02 June | 12:31
Jump up and down in the shower. When you jump up, the water will hit you harder, as if you had higher water pressure.

::chuckle::

You might want to try taking the showerhead down and removing the small plastic ring that is inside - that is what turns it into a low flow. Unless, of course, it really is just your water, in which case, I've got nothing.

Yay for moving, TPS! Time to start planning the apartment-warming party!
posted by gaspode 02 June | 12:46
Well, the water in my sinks has low pressure, but nothing like the showerhead, which barely removes soap from your shiny slippery body. So I have to think it can be improved somehow. Will check for the ring.
posted by dame 02 June | 12:47
Oh, TPS, here's the showerhead.
posted by dame 02 June | 12:49
Nice, thanks. Have bookmarked.

Sometime in early July, we're renting a van and going to IKEA! Woooo!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 12:54
Mmmmmm, Ikea. And not the one in Jersey crawling with those bus-bound New Yorkers, no! We shall go to the Long Island one.
posted by dame 02 June | 13:01
Yes, we shall!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 13:08
Congrats again, pink! Will you be painting the new pad pink? My old bedroom at my parents' house is pink (never let a ten-year-old chose the color...). Jon calls it my "vagina room."
posted by Pips 02 June | 13:19
By the by, my car's available for Ikea ventures anytime, if ya like. Happy to oblige. Not big enough for a couch, alas, but maybe some lamps...
posted by Pips 02 June | 13:21
OOOOOOOOOO A COMPLETELY PINK HOUSE! YES!

Ha, no. That might be a little much. Besides, I've always wanted a red couch...
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 13:23
There's a young man in a t-shirt
Listenin' to a rockin' rollin' station
He's got greasy hair, greasy smile
He says, "Lord this must be my destination."
posted by Hugh Janus 02 June | 13:27
Pink room + red couch = Valentine's Day all year long!
posted by occhiblu 02 June | 13:34
Honey, it's always V-Day at my house ;-)
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 13:35
Red couch shaped like lips? And made of wax?

Mmmmm... wax lip couch. Chewy.
posted by Pips 02 June | 14:35
Hehehehehe.

I have decided I am going to do my whole BATHROOM in pink.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 June | 15:21
and a salmon-y, peachy pink for your kitchen!!! I love the red couch idea-you could go bright with yellow pillows and window treatments, you could go "country" with tan accessories... oooohhhh this is fun!
posted by redvixen 02 June | 16:18
Actually I think the plural of ottoman is ottomangos.

Congrats on the new digs. Remember to click "digg this" or else it's not officially yours.
posted by nomad 02 June | 16:58
Congrats, Pinkster!

I was going to suggest what Rhomboid already suggested. Bro#1 is 6'4" and has to install one of those wherever he lives.
