New (Used) Computer ROM issues I got a used computer a few weeks ago. [More:] A half gig of memory, AMD 1600something processor. . .a nice deal for $200.

My problem is that it has a cd-dvd drive and a cd-rw drive and some freeware called "burnatonce."

Well I tried to do a compilation CD last night for the first time (since still no ipod yet) and the 'burnatonce' software did not read my source cd's in the drive.

I tried Windows Media Player, ripping and then converting the tracks, but consistently got an error late in the process.

My old machine has a cd-r with NERO and I am tempted to just jerk that one out of the old and put it in the new, either in place of the cd-rw or if I can, as a third ROM drive.

Is there any freeware burning program that I am unaware of that I can try before resorting to a change in hardware?

Thanks bunnies.
Windows XP comes with a basic burning program as far as I can recall. Its just a simple matter of opening the directory of the blank cd, dragging the files in and selecting the "burn this cd" option. Of course, if you don't have XP then this is pretty useless...
