Hey Bay Area people: Anyone want to meet for Happy Hour tomorrow (Thurs) afternoon? [More:]I'm in Berkeley for a couple of days. Anyone want to hang out sometime tomorrow 1:30 and 7, either in the city or around Berkeley? Let's have a beer!
Man, I've not been to Berkeley since... I moved to Colorado. The Triple Rock Brewpub holds some happy memories for me. I went there when it was the Roaring Rock brewpub and they got sued by Rolling rock because the name was too similar. Like anyone would confuse the two, really. It was one of the first brewpubs in the country, and they had this funky way of moving beer into a tax paid area by rolling the tank over. I wonder if they still do that, roll the tanks over.

Are there still sculptures out in the bay along I-80?

(I first misspelled "brewpub" "brewpup" which would be a good mudpuppie pub)

(Why do I feel like Holden Caufield all of a sudden?)

eekacat, they got rid of them. Or rather, no one was allowed to take care of them, so the mud flats absorbed them.

There are a few at Albany Bulb, but you have to go look for them- you can't see them from the freeway.

sad

If it's in Berk I'll prob stop in, even though I have a ton to do.

Yeah, that's really sad, small_ruminant. I remember those sculptures from when I was a child, which was kind of a long time ago. When I was a kid I always liked the biplane since it reminded me of Snoopy. (Yeah I know, the Red Baron flew a triplane. I never said I was a smart kid.) If we went into San Francisco from Davis I always had my eyes glued to the window as we past them. Going back home there were all the strip joints around Vacaville which eventually got run out. Georges Cherry tree et al. Sometimes we'd eat at the Black Oak Restaurant which had a great Reuben Sandwich, and waitresses with beehive hairdos...

Ack, but no one suggested a place, and I'm not familiar enough with the area to pick! I'll check back in in the morning....

If you want to come into the city, and you can do it after 3:30, then I'm there. Especially if it's Zeitgeist. But I can't do Berkeley.

So the obvious solution is a roving pub crawl. :-)

If it's in Berkeley, there's a pretty good chance that I'll be free. Places up and down Shattuck are the most convenient for me -- Jupiter, Beckett's, etc. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I can make it into SF tomorrow night.

Mudpuppie says:

I can't get online and therefore can't make firm plans. And wimpdork, I didn't have to go to Petaluma after all.
