We have likely evolved past caring that we have legs. [More:]Verily, we are bags of flesh and, increasingly, it is only several pounds of grey matter that *ahem* matter, so why do we constantly pay tribute to our fleshy under-appendages, as if cellulite nether-flappings had the power to define the destiny and contrain the fate of labyrinthine lumps of neuro-tissue. It's come down to war, ye lumps-of-several-kinds-of-tissue. Pick sides now!!

On the more free-thinking side of the aisle, I give you: the standing-room-only concept from Airbus.

And may I be the first to say, for the love of having legs and an ass that looks good:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH *ANY* OF YOU???
I refuse to fly Southwest because of crowding. Screw standing up.

Well OK.

Screwing standing up can be fun but not if I have to pay.

Gah! Why does the world hate tall people? Why is my peephole in my apartment so low that I must bend to see who is at the door? Why are all mirrors hung so that I mayn't see the top of my head? Why, Jesus, why are public sinks at stooping height, so that the automatic water thing only goes at a hunch? Why?

Dame, you should know, tall is beautiful, and beautiful trumps inconvenient every time. Plus tall people don't need to cultivate aggression complexes in order to deal with being miniature.

Sucks, though, that those squeaky little wheels get all the grease. But my head's in the clouds, and I can reach the top shelf where all the money's hidden away, so I'll just blithely watch the tops of their heads race around to find a seat to spread their little legs out on and take up as much space as their wee bitty bodies can, and take my own seat quietly, laconically, miles high and happy.

Tall is also a pain in the ass. People are always making you get stuff, you always have to bend down for things, and pugnacious short people are always starting shit.

*goes to have lower legs sawed off*
