I AM SO GLAD TO BE BACK, BUNNIES! →[More:] Tonight I went to my first audition in almost a year, for a local director who does Shakespeare, who had me cast in Taming of the Shrew last summer. I had to bail on him due to illness/divorce/etc., but tonight we got together and had a great time and I saw a bunch of my acting buddies.

I swear to you all, acting is IT for me. It's the only thing that life has ever given me that felt perfectly right, do you know what I mean?

What in your lives feels perfectly right, as if it were speaking to you on all levels?

Sitting down with a patient, talking, listening, and getting to the heart of their illness.

Laughing with friends.

Turning my Mesa Mark IIC+ up to 4, plugging in one of my humbucker guitars, and slowly swelling the guitar volume knob, listening to that sweet power-tube crunch develop.

I should probably organize my life to make these things happen more often.

PLaying music, particularly in an acoustic session with people, particularly when you're also all singing some plaintive wailing thing, and nailing it, and it sounds great and you can't believe it's just people making that sound.

amazingly enough, for me at least, it's what I'm currently doing: (assistant) editing for film and television. I'm working on projects that really inspire me and shit. I honestly feel like I fell into someone else's dream.

My uncle told me that from his deathbed last fall, jrossi4r. He was only 54, and he was dying of skin cancer that spread to his lungs, and he said, "Don't worry, [Hugh], life is long."

I think he's right.

Helping people solve work problems creatively. Running brainstorming sessions and watching the lights go on for them, and having them be happy b/c they figured something out or made something of their own!
