Supposedly "strong" but my head is so stopped up today that I couldn't smell my climbing rose or my White Lights azalea, both of which are VERY fragrant. So I'll have to answer that later.
Was it hot? Pansies can not take the heat. Usually you can plant them in fall and they will be pretty, over winter they will kinda go away but then they come back out for spring... and then die permanently when the heat of summer shows up.
My bamboo grove. Small still, but bigger than it looks. The biggest new culms (canes) tend to come up last, so I am anxious to see how big they get this year. Yellow Groove is not a huge bamboo, but I know of a grove in this area with nearly 40 foot in height and some of the culms are about 2 inches in diameter, which is probably about the max they are going to get. No clue if conditions here are good enough for them to get that big, but even the more normal max of 30 feet/1.5 inches would be nice. My other bamboos are all really young but one or two of them will SOMEDAY make big groves.
I thought I had some time before the hot weather hit, but it was 85 today and they got all droopy. It's supposed to be cool and rainy the next two days, so they might come back.
Unfortunately, they're planted in a garden that was full of pachysandra and despite my efforts, those bastards will not go away. They're days are numbered regardless.
That's cool bamboo. Can you use it to make anything?
Be sure to post some pics when it's settled in were. A couple of weeks ago I added number 30 to my rose garden. A blue rose. I have no pictures as it has not started blooming yet but here is a pic I found on google. Oddly the pic is from the town where my mom was born and I don't think it would survive there.
