Mild pre-travel freakage. [More:]I am freaking about going to Toronto in July. I don't know why. I don't know if it's because
- I'm spending a ton of money on the trip
- mrs chewy can't go with me
- I will find out that this isn't what I want to do after all (or that I suck at it despite success I've already had) and that I'm wasting my time and I will be a mindless stoned alcoholic drafter for the rest of my meager meaningless existence
- I'm going to Canada & I've never been and I don't know where to buy tampons or breakfast
- I don't want to freak out and cry in front of a whole bunch of people I don't know

I would like to sell our condo and get a small lot for a prefab house where we can hang our birdfeeders and sit out on the screened porch and listen to the bugs at night with our dogs and grow some herbs and tomatoes and watch the sky and drink and not have neighbors on the other side of every wall & floor/ceiling.

I suck at being idle.
Buy tampons at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Buy breakfast at The Sunset Grill.

You're going to love it here.

Yes, Canada is a nice place. Big though. I wouldn't want to paint it.

I'm not sure why you are going to Canada, but I promise Canada is not scary. And though it is different from the States, it's not like you're going to Moscow, where everything is in a different alphabet & people are trying to rip you off. It's fine.

It'll be fun.

*hugs chewie*

You can buy stuff cheap because of the exchange rate!

Toronto is pretty cool, Canadians (in my experience) are VERY funny and nice (and serious pisstakers and smartasses, so awesome!). I don't have the backstory here, but rest assured that you are not going to a bad place.

Travelling is an adventure! You'll have an awesome time if you don't get too worried about things.

Thanks you guys. :) I normally freak out unnecessarily and way ahead of time and then by the time I go I'm ok with it. I hope.

Ah relax. I'm a mindless stoned alcoholic drifter and it's not so bad, really. ;-)

I know how you feel, though. I freak out completely when confronted with the possibility of airplanes, which is why I'm making everyone come to Asheville, so I dont' have to get on a plane.

Toronto is similar to any big city in the States. You'll find most people are really polite and friendly - don't be afraid to ask questions/directions/etc. If you're going to be driving, just make sure to remember speed limits are in kilometers. Get a good map.

You'll be fine. :^)

Some of the nicest (and loosest) people I have ever met online are in Toronto, or so they said. . .

Not that this helps you. . .but I had a nice few moments remembering. . .*smile*

Toronto's like if all of us in NY or Chicago took nice pills--and it's a very easy city to negotiate (at least downtown) : >

I visited Toronto for the first time last summer. I LOVED it. The people are amongst the nicest I've ever met. Even the panhandlers are polite. Even the panhandler off his face on meth was polite!

It's a really beautiful city. It has all the urban-ness you could want, some really cool, quirky districts and it even has beaches!!

July was very hot. A native of Toronto told me that they have four seasons in Toronto

- pre-winter
- winter
- post-winter
- July

I loved it. Fabulous place, great people.
