10 April 2006

Things I learned at the NYC Meetup... [More:]
* New Yorkers are not unfriendly
* Dive bars in NYC have cheap beer and free hot dogs
* safetyfork apparently looks just like me
* Pips is really nice
* Lola_G can't enter a bar without being serenaded
* amberglow works for a magazine
* The cold hushpuppie/hot hushpuppie debate has the potential to rival the cilantro debate

NYC MetaChatters, you were all fantastic. It was great to meet you all. No one brought shoutout materials, but my crush list needs serious amending after this. Thanks for coming out to drink with us, everyone.
But how're the local microbrews? ;)

Also learned:
* hellbient is tall
* gaspode is tall

Well porpoise, I asked the bartender if she had any IPAs, and she didn't know what an IPA was.

Also: sorry to hear about the layoff jon. I guess this cancels your plans to visit Seattle?

The shaved heads are legion.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay.

And it's not that cold hush puppies are better- they'll just do when one is hungry in a bar.

That's crazy! I guess you weren't at the Ginger Man.

Not neccessarily, agro. I'll have some time, we might just make it out to the land of rain and coffee.

You and your lovely wife are welcome back anytime.

Such fun. So nice to meet you both.

agro and diva -- wonderful to meet you. Please come back soon! And how was Boston?

meet up on weekend next time, and learn some wee-hour things you might rather not.

jonmc on the left coast? brilliant!

it could come to pass, dude. I also had French food friday night.

The world has gone mad.

What scarabic said. It'd be beyond wonderful if jon and pips make it out here!

jon, you should come to the April 29 meetup and meet the Portland AND Seattle folks.

gaspode, I now hear your charming accent in my head when I read your comments. :)
posted by agropyron 10 April | 11:57
Great, now I have to be all witty and shit.
posted by gaspode 10 April | 13:06
Just be witty, 'pode. We don't really need to see the second item...
posted by jonmc 10 April | 13:10
gaspode, that's the best part about a great accent -- everything you say sounds 50% cooler, so the content doesn't matter as much.
posted by agropyron 10 April | 15:03
You made me want to post more often and not be such a lurker. :) Of course I prefer to sing but typing will do... ;)

Thanks for such a warm welcome!

Stone Brewery (California) IPA. A wonderfully hoppy summertime brew. Best in the warm months, for me anyway. Stout and Scotch in the cold.
