Am I particularly godless, or did everyone in San Francisco (and elsewhere?) just get a handy 68-page booklet in the mail, describing how god's gonna kill us all through earthquakes? [More:]Favorite pull-quote: "Under the symbols of a great red dragon, a leopard-like beast, and a beast with lamb-like horns, are brought to view those earthly governments which are especially engaged in trampling upon God's law and persecuting His people."

All of this shown against photos of the 1906 earthquake in SF. Umm, is this a memorial armageddon?
Funnily enough, there was an earthquake down near Monterey about an hour ago.

Prepare for the end times, people.

I have an odd aversion to getting the mail (which is delivered to the market downstairs), so I probably wouldn't find it until after the earthquake. Which isn't going to happen. The earthquake, I mean. Eventually, I'll learn to love the mail again. Maybe.

The back says:

What are today's headlines telling us, if anything? Business as usual for planet earth, or are we now on the threshold of a crisis such as the world has never before seen? Environmental, political, geological, and spiritual events all seem to be heralding the coming of something beyond the scope of our finite understanding. But what is it?

Are we nearing the end of the world? What then? www.whats-next.org

I'm a little scared to go to the website. The inside note says the booklet's an abridged version of a book written by an eye-witness of the 1906 SF earthquake. Looks like it's from Steps to Christ, Inc.

I'm on so many various history & architecture mailing lists that I've been getting tons of stuff about the centeniary earthquake celebrations, and this looks very like one of those pieces. They tricked me, they did.

The flash on that site makes me want to stab babies for satan.

See, that's what is going bring our eventual doom. Hideous websites. Some ubernerd out there somewhere is going to snap and start building rail-gun launched nuclear warhards with frickin' laser beams shooting out of them.

Someone needs to tell all these religious wackos that ugly websites make baby jesus cry.

I got one and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the usual Scientology claptrap. Then I promptly threw it in the trash.
