Help for the HTML-impaired... Technogoof (me) asks for some code. Anybody have these "templates" "in stock" or know of pages whose code I could steal? Thanks. I'm an idiot.[More:]
I need:

1. A page with an image centered at the top and a title beneath that. Coding for me to slip in a background color. Beneath that I need four columns (for links), each with a title at the top.

2. A template to post a one-page short-story. Just a title at the top and proper margins. (Everytime I try the damned margin thing, it works in one browser and not the other.) No backgrounds, nothing fancy. Just a title and text underneath it. WHY CAN'T I MANAGE THAT!?

3. A template on which to post a bunch of clickable thumbnails of art and photos.

(Google Page-Builder has a waiting list, my friend can't find her copy of DreamWeaver to loan me, etc.)
Look in oswd.

If you find yourself needing to quickly design a web page in the future, nvu is great. Like Dreamweaver, only more simple, and free.

Thanks! I know, I know, I should get better at this stuff, and eventually I will... but right now I'm barely getting sleep and keeping afloat.

I'm a total HTML n00b as well. Well, not a n00b, but I've never really bothered to learn any of the more complex stuff.

My site has a really super basic hand-coded layout that uses a couple of simple table tags for most of the formatting. It's clean and quick. You can see it here, and do a view source to grab HTML. Make sure you strip out any identifying marks like titles and body text and all that.

I have no idea if I'm W3C compliant or not, though. But the layout is so simple it even kinda shows up in WAP phone browsers.

Cool! Thanks, loq. I might just steal a little of your code. Maybe I'll scrap the columns idea and do one link to stories, one link to images, etc, with each story linked to the next, each image linked to the next, etc.

I swear I'd sit down and bug this out myself, but I'm on a Saturday deadline to make myself a "business card" like site that links to the best of my writing and art. It's just not cool anymore, especially during job interviews that want me to show off the best of my crativity, for me to have my goofy, i'll-updated weblog as the only online representation of myself.
