30 March 2006

Apologies in advance, but this just reset my Whisky Tango Foxtrot meter.[More:]

And this quote: "She was number one with Google last year, with good reason --- people are inspired by the beauty of a pregnant woman," has given new life to the the snort and response, "You must be shitting me."
It's just...is it me, is that sculpture somewhat pornographic and perhaps even subversive? I mean, I'm sorry, but it looks like she's poised to take it in the ass.

I'm just saying.

It's probably less erotic from the back, as her baby's head is visible coming out of her vagina.

Double!

but oh so worth it

I keep wondering about the view from behind? It has to be pretty graphic and nasty. And WHERE is K-Fed with his cheesy "Me-so-lucky" grin and five day growth?

Pregnant women ARE beautiful but this pose is nasty and trashy (hey, just like the model!).

agropyron, NO?!!!!??? Dang, it. just. got. worse.

Yarg!!!

Sorry, guys. I didn't do a search, I just flicked back a few days (clearly not enough.)

Ah, well, avert thine eyes.

I can't help but think this is some sort of culturejam, pulling a big joke over the pro-life crowd.
posted by me3dia 30 March | 12:57
yeah it's bad art, but is it really any worse, art-wise, than "Piss Christ" and that type of thing?

I really don't get the level of anger directed at Ms. Spears by a lot of people. She annoys me slightly by being a republican, but other than that, she's a mediocre-to-bad entertainer. Why should I care one way or another?

I'm scared to click. I assume this is NSFW (or NSFAnyone)?

Frisbee Girl, just pulling your chain, so to speak. :) No apologies necessary!

I'm with me3dia. Also, here's a related gofugyourself post.

I'm with me3dia, too. I kept looking and looking for the part that admitted it was a hoax or a joke. I still think it is.

"I'm scared to click. I assume this is NSFW (or NSFAnyone)? "

A naked Britney Spears has just fucked a wolf to death, sucked every last bit of meat from its hide, and is already excreting the result from her gaping hole as if birthing its essence into a steaming pile of man-child flesh. It's supposed to be symbolic of the pro-life movement: sure they give a shit, just don't expect them to clean up afterwards.

Or that's one possible interpretation, anyway. ;-)

me3dia, I'd love that.

drjimmy, I don't feel any sense of anger or malice toward her, it's simply bizarre artistic expression. Then again this is the same guy who sculpted Ted Williams' severed head last year.

That was pure poetry, IRFH.

I just saw this on the "recent comments" page:

tr33hggr: Ker-
plop!

and thought it was the funneeeeiest comment ever, but then I realized it was in the "Onomatopoetic Batman Sounds" post, not this one.
posted by taz 30 March | 13:13
IRFH, works for me. And its more poetic that way too.

Brit Haiku
Britney Spears ate a bear
Then sucked the meat from its hide
To excrete man-child.

Why can't she be like a Japanese pop star, have a couple of hits and then disappear into obscurity?

Is wendell still doing his Signs of the Apocalypse site? Because, if so, this definitely belongs there.

Although it would be a pretty damned hilarious garden fountain with the, um, water emanating from the very obvious place. Especially if you could control the flow. Oh damn, now I just grossed myself all out.

Time to start drinking.

Fris, why do you hate me?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I think, too. There's so much effort put into sexualizing the image so entirely, then claiming a justification for each element (like the bearskin being a nod of acknowledgement to her shameful past). It's walking a line.
posted by Miko 30 March | 15:16
It'd be pretty funny with pigeon shit all over it too.
posted by chewatadistance 30 March | 15:18
OK, I feel better. After reading the article linked by box, with the totally disingenuous artist's quotes and a few bon mots from the gallery owner, now I understand that it's a put-on.
posted by Miko 30 March | 15:20
While I don't personally see her as role model material and might even draw attention to her dubious decision making skills, I'm a bit hard pressed to call her past 'shameful'.
posted by Frisbee Girl 30 March | 15:28
Just to clarify, it's not me that thinks it's shameful, it's the idea the artist offered as his justification of the pose.
