Okay, I need help. I need an excuse so I can get off work, go home...→[More:]and play Oblivion.
A "stomach problem" makes a good excuse. Nobody wants you to explain any further, and it is entirely plausible that you could be back at work and completely normal tomorrow.
My boss came into my office last Friday and said he was leaving for the hospital, that his father in law was dying. That was pretty believable; you could use that one.
I've decided to just leave after lunch. There's a very limited amount of trouble I can get in, considering that I'm getting laid off in a little over a week anyway. And I have no boss anymore. And nothing to do.
Thanks for the great ideas, though, everyone.
Oblivion, so far, is pretty damn impressive. I only played for about an hour last night, though... just long enough to get past the standard "training dungeon at beginning of RPG".
I played Daggerfall extensively, but never got into Morrowind... it just lacked something. So far this has that great Daggerfall feeling, so I'm full of optimism. Also, the combat system is about 120x more fun than it was in Morrowind. Archery, in particular... it's amazing how much more fun things are with the visceral hit of a modern physics engine.
No real bad bugs/crashes so far either. The game does kinda laugh at my rig, but I'm getting between 20-50 fps, which is acceptable.
