20 March 2006

It's a busy day at my favorite web-zen place. This is a link to a controllable webcam at a Japanese temple. As it's the Vernal Equinox, it's an especially auspicious time for Japanese to pay homage to their ancestors...[More:]If any other Japanophiles with translation ability can help me figure out where in Japan this is, I'd appreciate it. I hit this cam every day. I just know from Google it's called the "Ten Thousand Luck" Temple, and it has a "Merciful Goddess" Way. I'd love to see it in person. Enjoy.
i wasn't suppose to change my clock or something was i?

heres the old mefi thread about unsecured cams. I'm guessing most of the links inthread are now broken, but the google search still works.

Moonbird, if you can't afford the airfare there's probably a Japanese garden nearby. Ours is particularly cool.

Where are you getting your Japanese to be translated via Google? When I looked, it was night, so there wasn't any kanji to go by...

If I remember to look in the daytime or if you can point me to the Japanese about it, I can probably find out for you.

It may be a side entrance for a famous temple in Kyoto, or it is a smaller branch of the sect in a smaller city and it would involve a great deal of browsing to find an image that would match the gate in the camera's image... (at least Shrines use the same name over and over in different locations)

You would likely love Kyoto, and the temple is quite large if it is that one. (A side entrance makes sense for the camera, no?)
