I just started watching season 1, so I'm going to leave this thread now and not return until I'm caught up.

Starbuck travels back in time to 1972, where she lands on earth and becomes part of a crack commando unit that gets sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. They promptly escape a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. I was very happy to see a return to episodes with scope in the last few weeks, especially tonight. There was a patch in there of very third rate episodes, including one I swear was someone's unused Mannix script, found in an old trunk and hastily rewritten to feature Apollo (Lee Adama: Space Detective!).

Also Lee and D.: is it possible to have less chemistry?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in October. They have done one of two things; Either jumped the shark, or set up for something that could be great. And honestly, I have no idea which. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt though, they could do amazing things with this. They better, the show is too good to mess up. If nothing else, you gotta respect the size of their balls.

PinkStainlessTail: Have you listened to the podcasts? Ron Moore the producer agrees with you, he didn't like that episode either and takes the blame on himself.

Yea, Billy being killed was a mistake also. He was so earnest, very innocent and nervous. The character really seemed to communicate how fragile the situation was. Maybe it was an "innocence lost" thing?

Question: What did I miss that Lee and Thrase are hating each other so much?

Lee and Kara (Starbuck) have always had a thing for each other (and Kara slept with Lee's brother when she was his flight trainer, which led her to pass him when he wasn't qualified, which led to his death).

Tonight, when Kara was making out with her boy-toy and future husband, she drunkenly insulted Lee's relationship with Dualla.

Also, Kara is (was) a hot-shit natural pilot who regularly flouted rules and even orders, while Lee (despite his support for Stands With Whiteboard against his father's coup) is much more of a disciplined officer.

Awesome ending tonight. Wow. Total midfuck.

Jelly: Now, this is coming from the producer's podcast, so take with however much salt you want. Ron Moore said that the reason Billy was killed off, was that the actor was getting very good job opportunities in larger roles. They would try to write around him to free him up, but it got too unpredictable. And he made the very good point that it wouldn't make sense for the character to just suddenly decide to be a farmer and move to the farm ship. So, they killed him off, the only logical reason why he would ever leave Roslyn
