Another GirlTtalk thread. This time about boobies. →[More:]I just got back from the hospital where I had a core biopsy. I was given a local anasthetic and didn't feel a thing apart from the local jab, but was told there'd be bruising and pain for a while afterwards.

I was warned about lifting heavy stuff, which puts me in a bind because I have to lug a backpack full of files into the office tomorrow. And then bring another lot home with me.

Have any of you MetaFems had a core biopsy? What can I expect when the local wears off? Will it hurt a lot? A little? Will my tits be black 'n' blue for a while?

I've Googled, but the info is contradictory so if anyone has any experience of this, I'd be glad to hear from you.

I don't have experience with this one, EJ. I had a core biopsy last year, but not on my boobies. It may not be the same at all. I just remember a slight soreness, accompanied by a feeling of "eewww, they took out a chunk of me."

Ouch. No work has been done on the girls, but I did have a LEEP done once. They were going to give me a local, but I coughed so much (this is pre-smoking) that they decided to go for the general instead. When I woke up after the outpatient procedure, it felt like I'd been fucked very hard.

Here's hoping the biopsy turns out normal.

Don't know about the boobie stuff, but maybe you can use a cart/bag with wheels thing to carry the files?

I have to travel on the Underground, which means stairs, so there's no avoiding having to carry stuff. I may take a sick day, if it's really sore tomorrow.

isn't that the worst... I hate the waiting. Shoot, if they can tell you if you have HIV in half an hour, they should say the same for everything else.

I have no advice, other than to suggest a cab tomorrow may be a good idea if it is financially do-able, and to wish you luck.

I just called my boss and said I wouldn't be in tomorrow. Fuck it, the weather forecast is for rain. A cab would be prohibitively expensive. I never take sick time, so one day isn't going to hurt. I need a day wrapped up in a duvet, watching daytime TV and eating hot buttered crumpets.

Yeah, if they warn against heavy lifting, it's probably better that you're taking a day off. Sorry I have no experience with this, either! But I hope it's not as bad as black and blue and all that. Enjoy your crumpets!

After a core biopsy the lymph nodes are working extra hard. I wonder if heavy lifting can put too much strain on them. Lymph nodes are very important and need to be cared for. No lifting, even if you feel great and have minimal bruising. : )

Pick up some arnica and a bag of frozen peas in case you do have any bruising...they'll never build an icepack as effective as a bag o' peas.

I had a couple of papillomas removed from one of my breast ducts about 5 years ago. I was sore for a few days, but overall it wasn't bad -- ice (or yes, frozen peas -- best of all, indeed!) and taking it easy for a day or two is absolutely right. And really, don't lift -- you don't want to accidentally pull a stitch.
