And somewhere, off in the distance, in downtown Portland... [More:] a lone bagpipe plays it's mournful tune.
Once I was in Portland in Pioneer Square and I went to use the public restroom and occupying the urinal next to mine was a guy decked out head-to-toe in a Michelin Man costume. Yes, the Michelin Man has to take a piss just like the rest of us.

There were some Indy race cars parked in the Square that day for some promotion or other, explaining his presence.

Once I was in the square on Bastille day and my neighbor had his collection of Citroens on display (the ones that are usually parked around 17th and Belmont).

When we came to return your coat we parked around the corner behind a blue Citroen that obviously hadn't been run in some time (there was leaf debris under the front wheels).

Most of them don't actually work. Citroen is French for lemon, after all.

This one time, in language camp? There was this guy coming from Minnesota? He drove through Portland.

One time, at band camp,
I lost my clarinet reed --
But I found true love.

Lone bagpiper, eh? You don't live in Sellwood, do you? That, or my old neighbor has moved in the last 15 years.

Come to think of it, bagpiping might very well be cause to move.

Rain for many days,
Four hours of sleep until work.
I might call in sick.

During the more temperate seasons at Notre Dame it would be a regular occurrence to hear one of the pipers from the Bagpiping club practicing off in the distance in the twilight. I miss that.
