Shoutout from gaspode and BoringPostcards Dear Metachat. How are you? I am good. →[More:] mr. gaspode and I had a lovely day in Atlanta on Saturday. We met up with BoringPostcards and mr. BP. BP took us on a "behind the scenes" tour at CNN. We then went to look around some cool neighbourhoods. We drank a lot. Then we drank some more. It was local beer. We had boiled peanuts and shouted out to you all. Then we had tapas and mojitos. BP and mr. BP were introduced to the gaspode that tells long, pointless stories when drunk. Today, gaspode and mr. gaspode were quite hungover. mr. gaspode was worse, because instead of mojitos, he had whisky. We had grits and pimento cheese and ham omelettes and scrambled eggs and biscuits with sausage gravy for lunch, and that made it all better. Then we came home. It was a lot of fun. Bye!!

Heh! None of us looks too worse for wear in those pics, gaspode! I'm glad you didn't take any pics after the mojitos started arriving, though. :)

We had SUCH A BLAST hanging out with gaspode and mr. gaspode! I only wish we'd had nicer weather for the whirlwind tour of ATL. (Well, also that we hadn't kept getting such strange waitresses everywhere we stopped.)

For any locals who may be reading this, the pics from our first stop were taken at the EARL in East Atlanta, and the second stop was the Euclid Ave. Yacht Club (which has no web site) in Little Five Points.

And taz, I wasn't with them for lunch, but I can tell you that the pimento cheese and ham omelette has salvaged many a Sunday for me. :)

And amberglow, we figured since gaspode and mr. were from NYC, chili dogs wouldn't be that big a deal for them. Boiled peanuts and Sweetwater 420s were a more regional experience for 'em. (Not to mention, the EARL is a true locals-only joint.)

And the Sweetwater beers were fan-fucking-tastic. I loved the boiled peanuts - they reminded me of edamame.
