I haven't heard much about the NZ music scene since the mid-90s (Tall Dwarfs, The Clean, The Bats). What's going on in (independent, local, any genre) music there nowadays? If you've got some friends there who are into music, ask them for some recommendations, maybe they can burn you a mix CD or two. I promise I will spin them on Metachat radio if you do.

I will certainly do that, 'tilda (I intended to do it for myself!) One of my good friends is reasonably big in the NZ music scene (you may have heard of his band, HDU - High Dependency Unit - they toured with Shellac and a buncha other cool bands) and I will be getting updates from him.

The thing I miss most about Godzone is one thing you cannot bring away - seasons. You know, actual changes in the weather that are noticeable. Here it just gets slightly hotter in summer and the days are longer, but nothing else changes. It's boring as hell and I keep snapping at people when they say "wasn't that some storm last night?". People here have no idea what a real storm is all about.
