You know what's nice on snowy afternoons?[More:] Doo-Wop Songs about VD and country songs about booze. So here's Poison Ivy by the Coasters and Yes, I Guess They Oughta Name A Drink After You from John Prine.
Great stuff. John Prine was one of my favourite gigs of last year. In Spite of Ourselves is sweet.

As long as we're doing the John Prine thing, Humidity Built the Snowman seems appropriate.

John Prine and my mother's boyfriend have completely identical voices. I love that accent... it's the best kind of southern twang.

Speaking of southern twang 'n snowstorms, I can't decide if I'm happy or sad to be in Texas right now (and for the next couple of months) while in Harlem my apartment, wife-lady, and cat're buried under something like 11 feet of snow.

I think I'm sad. Man, I miss the city, and now if I buy a 'I Survived the Blizzzzzzard of '06' t-shirt, I'll know myself to be the big phony I've always suspected I am.

It's one for the record books, indeed man. We've got over a foot on the ground and it's still falling.

Which is strange considering Prine grew up in Chicago, although his parents are from Kentucky.
