Internet Withdrawal Sucks. [More:] I just returned from a short Florida vacation - I spent several days with my parents in their cozy little mobile home park near Bradenton. Nice place, but don't old people believe in setting up unsecured wireless access points like the rest of us????? Not a single network showed up in the entire park, and I walked around and checked, just to make sure. Around my apartment complex, I can get six or seven just sitting in my living room.

But I have now returned home, have re-inserted that metaphorical needle, and the connectivity is now pouring through my veins.
For reals, I don't understand people who can live without internet. My first college had this program where you could go up into the mountains for a semester, away from society, to study and learn, and I'm like.... nature is nice and all, but if there ain't high-speed internet available at all times, I'm not interested.

Remember when you needed a thick yellow book to find a phone number and a newspaper to find out when a movie was playing?

Oh yeah, we don't have any cable TV, but I could not imagine living without the internet at this point. Whenever cost savings come up, we NEVER discuss cutting off that connection.

Remember when there were only 13 channels and you had to get up and walk across the room to change them?

I remember a rented black and white television with three channels, an aerial you had to move around to get a decent picture and big clunky push buttons. And whenever it was switched on it'd take half a minute to warm up accompanied by that burning dust smell.

Can't say I miss it much.

But these days I reckon I could live pretty much anywhere as long as I had internet access.

I moved into a new place and didn't have broadband for a few months cuz I was poor and I didn't really mind it much. Now however, I have a friend that doesn't have cable or internet and he's totally in the dark about everything I talk about. It sucks.

Does this mean old people are past the need for porn?
