What up, bitches? I'm back.[More:]I was in Vegas for a while and then had some screws removed from my ankle and then laid on the couch for a few days watching TV because that was pretty much all I could do and then I got the cast off and now I'm mostly back to normal. So what's up?
This bitch will bite.

What up, mike9322? Win any dough in Vegas?

Glad to hear your leg is improving. So what, they don't got the internet in Vegas?

I ended up breaking even, but was down $600 or so at one point so I was okay with that. It ended up being a free trip because I'd paid for my expenses beforehand with poker winnings in local games. And my friend won about $2200 so he paid for all my meals.

The real reason I opted to have the surgery was to get caught up on 24 (I almost cried when Michelle Dessler (HAWT) was killed. But that may have been the painkillers.), Lost, and Battlestar Galactica. I was like 3 episodes behind on each and needed the downtime!

Wow, you must be good at poker.
So, when is Metachat playing poker again?

I do okay and would probably do better if I'd dedicate myself more to it, but I only enjoy it if I play infrequently. I get bored. Over the course of 12-18 months or so, I've made a few grand.

I ended up at a table at the Aladdin this weekend in the wee hours of the morning and had the best time I've ever had playing poker. I only won $28 that session, but the people at this table were awesome. I've never laughed so much. The girl to my right was hot and wrote for a poker magazine and was close personal friends with many famous poker players (and had the pictures to prove it) and flirted her ass off with me. After the table's fifth round of shots, the poker room cut us off for an hour! Cut off! In Vegas! I think we just ended up with an ornery cocktail waitress who'd just started her shift and wasn't in the mood at 5am, but damn, we were pissed. She cost herself several hundred dollars in tips.

god, we just started weekly $20 buy-in nights at my house, that's enough for now. Playing at a casino seems so intimidating. I'm getting better though. I know what you mean about it getting boring as well, but once I start I could really just go on and on.

Yeah, that's how I started too - just games with my friends, and playing in free tournaments around town. I met a guy at one of the tourneys who runs a 1-2 no limit cash game at his apartment, and from there I found my way into several other games, and found that I really excelled at the ring game style of play as opposed to the tournament style. It was really a progression for me, and becoming comfortable with putting more and more money on the line took a while. Of course I follow the adage that I never put money on the table that I can't afford to lose. It also helped my confidence when I won $535 in my first-ever Vegas poker session back in October :)

It's a fun hobby, but I don't think it'll ever evolve into anything beyond that.

And, I know you missed me, SassHat.
